204-News&Events™

USING THE NEW "204 NEWS&EVENTS" SYSTEM

Anyone related to the school can add news and events information, however, it is important that this person ensures correct dates and times because we cannot assure quality assurance of this information. Once the form has been submitted, along with up to three photos or documents, it is placed in a pending status until it has been reviewed for appropriateness, spelling errors, formatting, etc., then it goes live. The process takes less than one business day.

Each event in a series should be added individually. You can add a notice of a series of events as news with perhaps a printer friendly document added, but it will roll off after eight other items are added to your home page. Events show up as they grow near. It acts as a great reminder, especially as the year goes on.

You should use Events to announce an upcoming event, then use news items to follow up the event and add up to three photos of the it as well. News items would be used for items that would typically go to the press, important announcements, messages from the principal, emergency information, etc. Please note that all District News and Events show up on all school web sites.

People can add information either by clicking the "plus sign" found on the list and detail pages, or by going directly to this link.

More than anything, using the form makes the person enter all the information that is necessary, like full addresses, time, etc.. If you plan to add a number of items, use your Back button to keep the information from the previous event and update only the fields that need to change.

Make sure all fields in red are completed, otherwise, you'll get an error message.

Once the form is completed, the next web page enables you to upload accompanying documents or photos. If you have none to add, the original content is held in a pending status until an authorized person has reviewed it for appropriateness (sometimes, it's actually an event instead of news, in the wrong category, or a word is misspelled, etc.). It goes live immediately after that.
