Applied Technology

Applied Technology uniquely blends academic and vocational competencies in a changing world, and is therefore a vital component of a comprehensive education. an exemplary program provides opportunities for students to acquire knowledge and develop skills necessary for life long learning.

The department's diverse course offerings build independent and collaborative skills in the areas of communication, transportation, energy & power, manufacturing and construction. Students are directed toward forming concepts and developing competencies necessary to make intelligent choices and apply principles and generalizations to new situations. We envision our students to become better prepared to meet the challenges of further education and life long learning through exploration and development of attitudes, that promote the values of initiative, leadership and integrity.

Vision

We believe that education is a process of life long learning for all students. Applied Technology Education works best when the school community shares in the responsibility and participates in the Applied Technology program. Applied Technology Education is an ever changing school curriculum of hands-on learning activities that are the results of academic excellence being applied and used. The students involved in applied Technology Education should:

  • Develop hands-on skills for both the present and the future

  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively and accept individual differences
  • Perform and think independently and critically
  • Develop multiple approaches to problem solving
  • Pursue knowledge and skills in Applied Technology through life-long learning opportunities
  • Investigate related occupations in Applied Technology as the students prepare for the 21st Century
  • Realize and develop their leadership skills
