Language Arts: 6-12

Our Language Arts Mission is to develop each student's potential to effectively construct and convey meaning in all areas of language-reading, writing, listening, speaking, and visually representing-for a variety of purposes, audiences, and situations.

As Language Arts educators we envision individuals who

	read a variety of materials for information and pleasure
	communicate ideas in writing and speaking for thoughtful, relevant, and authentic purposes
	use printed, visual, auditory, and technological media to acquire information and to communicate effectively
	evaluate and respond creatively and critically to written, spoken, and visual ideas
	utilize information literacy skills in problem-solving through accessing information, researching, integrating, and applying knowledge
