Our next PTA meeting of the year is on Thursday, September 27th at 9:30 AM in the lunch room.

LAST WEEK! PTA MEMBERSHIP DRIVE GOING ON NOW THRU SEPTEMBER 28th!
Thank you to all of the families who have joined the PTA this school year and a reminder that our Membership Drive will continue thru September 28th! Every year our goal is to have 100% of our families join. Forms are due back by September 28th. Getting your forms in by September 28th will ensure that you get access to the Directory Spot App for our 2018-2019 online directory and ONLY PTA members will get access to this after the 28th. Spring Brook PTA is excited to participate in the Reflections program this year. Reflections is sponsored by national PTA and promotes creativity in all kinds of art forms. This is a special year as Reflections is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Theme this year - "Heroes around me".
To make it extra special we are creating a goal for us - "50 for 50". We would like to submit 50 entries from our students this year, so all Huskies Heroes get your creative juices flowing!
Look out for those entry forms and rules in Friday folder this week. Judging for this program happens at district, regional, state and national level. We would love to see a Huskie Hero standing on the stage at national ceremony so do encourage your child to participate.
1. Program runs from Sep 24 - Oct 12. Make the best use of 3 weeks to create your best work!
2. You may participate in all categories but please limit your entry to 1 per category. Each entry requires its own entry form.
3. All completed entries are due in main office on Monday - Oct 15.
4. Please do not write any details on the art (or back of art) itself, just attach the entry form to your work.
5. "Artist" statement is required... so do not forget to highlight your thought behind your idea.
6. Please fill out the form as clearly as you can.
The eligible categories are visual arts, film production, literature, photography, dance choreography, and music composition

CALLING ALL ART AWARENESS VOLUNTEERS!
Do you love art or love to help out in your child's classroom? Art connects our students with the world. The PTA is in need of parents to volunteer to teach Art Awareness lessons to your child's class. We provide everything you need to do the lesson, no experience necessary!
On a quarterly basis, volunteers pair up and teach the students about well-known artists and their works and then facilitate an art project using the style just taught. ALL teaching materials, training, and activities are provided for volunteers. The students always enjoy the lessons and will amaze you with their interpretation of the art presented.
You will self-schedule the lesson with your teacher during the quarter at your own convenience and is a great way to be a part of your child's education and keep art flowing through our school!

Charleston Wrap Fundraiser - Ordering Deadline Extended
Thank you to those who have already placed your Charleston Wrap orders. So far we have almost $7,000 in sales, but in order to get closer to our goal of $12,000 the deadline has been extended. Remember, the money we raise helps us offer great resources for Spring Brook! If you or someone you know still wants to order, it is not too late to submit order forms or complete online orders through http://www.charlestonwrapstore.com.
Monday, October 1st is the last day you can submit order forms. It's also the last day to order online and choose "ship to school" and to have your sales count toward your child's prizes. After the 1st, online purchases throughout the year will still benefit the PTA even though this fall fundraiser has ended. Your child will not continue to accumulate prizes after October 1st. For further ordering instructions please refer to your Charleston Wrap package. There are more available in the front office, as well as additional order forms. Be sure to write your student's name and code at the top of any additional order forms. Please make checks payable to Spring Brook PTA.

Save the Date: Spring Brook’s Annual "Science Fair"
Date: Wednesday October 24, 2018
Time: 5:30-8:00 PM
All Spring Brook students are invited to participate in the Science fair on Wednesday, October 24, 2018.
Each student or group of students (Max.3) from grades K - 5th can develop a project with the help of their parents to present at the fair. Details will be e-mailed and registration forms will be coming home soon.
Box Tops for Education Collection
The PTA will be collecting Box Tops for Education again this year to benefit Spring Brook. Last year we raised over $1,300! Collection sheets will be sent home with your student this week.
What is the Box Tops Program?
The Box Tops program is an easy way for our community to raise funds for enhancements such as technology and library items. We will be collecting all year, so feel free to send in at your convenience. Be sure to ask other family members to collect them as well!
- FALL CONTEST: Every completed collection sheet returned to school in September or October with a student name on it will be entered into a prize raffle. Prizes will be awarded to a few students in November. The more sheets submitted, the more chances your child has to win. Be sure your child’s NAME is on the collection sheet, Ziploc bag or envelope.
