“It was really fun to learn the different steps it takes to solve a crime with fingerprinting, DNA, and the blood sampling.” — Agnes Kwon, student
Through a grant from the Indian Prairie Educational Foundation, high school students had the opportunity to become crime scene investigators. With assistance from the Naperville Police, a crime scene was staged and students were tasked with collecting and analyzing evidence to solve the crime. The activity gives biology students an authentic, real-life scenario where they can apply what they are learning in the classroom to a hands-on project.
Watch this month’s Explore 204 to see the student crime scene investigators in action.
