Volunteer of the Month: October
Reported by firstname.lastname@example.org on 10/17/19
Jenny Turner is a volunteer at Kendall Elementary where her three daughters attended school several years ago and her granddaughter is now in fourth grade. Because of her continued dedication to the teachers and students at Kendall, she is being named the BMO Harris Bank District 204 Volunteer of the Month.
Jenny volunteers through various activities, including helping in the LMC a few days a week and with the Scholastic Book Fair. Jenny is well known at Kendall for her work in the Makerspace. She comes in once or twice a week to restock, organize and clean up the area. Jenny takes items home to cut and prepare so students have easy access to supplies that can spark their creativity. She creates idea boards and instructional boards to assist students with projects. Jenny also spends her own time and money purchasing supplies, as well as picking up donated supplies.
The staff at Kendall appreciate Jenny’s continued support by graciously and constantly sharing her amazing organizational skills, valuable time, money and fabulous ideas.
Jenny says she has always enjoyed volunteering. Offering her help with the next generation has given her the opportunity to become more involved in the LMC and fall in love with children’s books all over again. While she is grateful to receive this award, Jenny doesn’t feel it is necessary for something she loves to do.
