Wheatland Academy Principal Named

The Board of Education approved LaTanya Harris as the next principal of Wheatland Academy beginning July 1, 2020. Harris will replace Cecilia Tobin, who is retiring in June.
For the past year, Harris has served as an Assistant Director of Student Services in District 204 where she has overseen the implementation and evaluation of programs and services for diverse learners at seven schools. Prior to joining District 204, Harris spent nine years as the Director for Alternative Programs in Joliet Township High School District. In that role, she supported students who needed assistance to ensure they graduated on time. Harris has additional experience in special education as an administrator for Civitas Schools in Chicago and Bellwood School District. She began her career in education as a social worker in Joliet Township High School District.
Harris earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from University of Illinois, her Master of Social Work degree from Loyola University, and her Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Governors State University.
