Technology Information for Seniors
Reported by email@example.com on 5/20/20
District 204's Technology Services staff would like to wish seniors congratulations on their outstanding accomplishments this year. We have a series of technology-related updates to share with seniors that are important as you wrap up the school year.
If you have any questions, please contact the Support Center at firstname.lastname@example.org. Again, on behalf of Technology Services, congratulations!
Freshmen, Sophomore and Junior students will keep their current Chromebook over the summer and return it when school resumes for the 2020-2021 school year. For seniors only, you may decide to return your Chromebook during locker and personal item pick-up. Returned Chromebooks will be prepared and distributed to other students with broken devices who need a replacement. (Due to COVID-19, we are not currently repairing Chromebooks so we are looking for interested Senior students to return their Chromebooks.)
If you want to keep your Chromebook, the District will unlock your "as-is" device on June 8, 2020, for seniors who want to keep their Chromebook and are scheduled to graduate. We selected this date to ensure that your Chromebook would meet requirements for the make-up AP exam window.
Once unlocked, you can log in to the Chromebook with any Google account. Web filtering and other District resources will not be available on the Chromebook after June 1. The District will not be able to provide a replacement, any parts, or troubleshooting on these devices.
Google Drive, OneDrive and Home Access Center Access
We understand that access to your email, Google Drive, OneDrive, and Home Access Center are important to you. Your Home Access Center, Gmail account, and Google Drive account will remain active sixty (60) days after graduation.
We will provide email reminders to you regarding the expiration of your account 60 days, 30 days, 14 days, 7 days, and 1 day prior to expiration.
Software Applications for Home Use
If you have installed Microsoft Office or Adobe Creative Cloud on any personal machines, they will need to be activated using a personal license after your District account expires.
Google Drive Files
Don't forget to move your Google Drive files before the expiration of your account. You can export a copy of the content in your Google Account to back it up or move your files to another Google account. Follow the directions on the Google Takeout page to save your Google information at https://takeout.google.com.
OneDrive and H:/ Drives
You may have had files stored on your personal drive while working on projects in your school. We have moved all your H:/ drive files to OneDrive where you can retrieve them and make a local copy until the expiration of your account noted in the section above. To access your OneDrive files:
1) Sign into Microsoft 365 at https://www.office.com/signin with your school email account. Click "Next".
2) Enter your password and click "Next".
3) Select "OneDrive" - the blue cloud.
4) Choose your account.
Adobe Creative Cloud Files
Similar to Google, Adobe provides an option to move your Adobe files to a personal Adobe ID. This process must be finished before the closure of your account. Visit https://graduation.adobe.com for more information and to move your Adobe files.
