News From the Nest - May 27th
Reported by firstname.lastname@example.org on 5/28/20
Dear Graham Families,
Today is the last day of school for the 2019-20 school year. It’s been a year like no other in my 30 years being in education. We have all heard the phrase, ‘These are unprecedented times’, so much that if you are like me, you grew weary of hearing it. However, that terminology is true. It has been unprecedented times for all of us. We had the unexpected canceling of school on March 13th. We thought it would be for a few weeks, and the students and the teachers began the steep climb to acclimating to e-learning. When e-learning evolved into remote learning, teachers met the challenge and quickly modified their teaching and instruction for and to students. It was great to see students utilizing devices to learn in so many creative ways. We really found out how capable our students are.
I watched teachers grow in their use of technology resources, and it has been uplifting to see their acquisition of skills. I am proud of the teachers and of our students for many reasons. One being the dedication teachers demonstrated to their students, another was the response of our students and the percentage of students attending/participating (using both Zoom sessions and student work completed) in remote learning at Graham. It was remarkable. I have thought about the abrupt switching over to remote learning and how it was not an easy endeavor for parents. I want to acknowledge the hard work, scheduling, and flexibility of our Graham parents. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this small, but mighty community.
Each year brings change. This year we are saying goodbye to two staff members. Mrs. Christensen is moving over to Kendall Elementary to be their full time Social Worker. Mrs. Young is transferring to Builta Elementary to work in their self-contained program. We are sad to see both educators move to new assignments but know they will do wonderful work wherever they go.
One of our biggest changes this year is to our front office. For as long as Graham has been open; Mrs. Kuhn, to some, Miss Sue to others, and Sue to most, has been the school secretary. Mrs. Kuhn is retiring after 24 years of service to the Graham students, staff, and families. We will miss her but know that she is headed toward fun adventures ahead. Happy trails to you, Mrs. Kuhn until we meet again.
With goodbyes, come hellos. I would like to introduce our new school secretary, Ms. Kendall Crader. Ms. Crader has been training this week and will be the point of contact starting June 1st. She is very excited to begin her work at Graham and we are happy to welcome her to our school. We are unsure of when our building will officially open, so here is Ms. Crader’s email: email@example.com. We will be transitioning to Summer hours. As in previous years, the district will be closed on Fridays throughout the Summer.

2019 – 20 Graham Yearbook Link
Due to COVID-19, yearbook delivery has been delayed. When the yearbooks are received and a distribution plan is finalized, we will share that information with the school.
To help soften the blow, Mrs. Stone and Mrs. Skrip put together a slide show of the yearbook pages to share with students. We felt it was a great way to celebrate and remember the school year on our last day!
Please remember to check your email. There will be communication shared throughout the Summer, so watch for emails or ConnectEd calls from the school district and from Graham School with important information regarding registration and the upcoming school.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email me (email@example.com) at your convenience.
This has been an unprecedented school year, but our Nest is still the Best!
I want to wish you all a happy and safe Summer Break!
Stay strong and stay healthy,
