Hello Spring Brook Parents –
4th and 5th Grade Remote Choir (Spring Brook Singers) Starting On Oct. 29
Despite the challenges of Covid-19, we will be starting chorus this year (Spring Brook Singers)! Chorus at this time will be remote (not in-person) and will be offered to 4th and 5th grade students as is typical. Due to chorus being remote, I wanted to give you an idea of what chorus will 'look like'. Remote chorus this year will include singing some of our normal chorus songs, coaching on posture, breathing, reading a musical score, sight reading, practicing solfege, and learning warm-ups and canons. Other possibilities include opportunities to hear from professional musicians and/or recording artists, as well as middle school and high school students and guest teachers.
I’d like to remind you of the numerous academic and social/emotional benefits of participating in a musical ensemble. Students learn key 21st Century skills by joining together in a musical ensemble -- critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity are natural outcomes of the study of music. These invaluable skills will serve them well in whatever academic or vocational settings students find themselves in the coming years.
Although this schedule may need to be flexible as school schedules change, we are planning to meet virtually on Thursdays from 3:45-4:15pm. Registration is open from Oct. 12-26 to join, and costs $0 since we won't be buying shirts or having in-person parties!
Parents and their amazing 4th and/or 5th grade kids can sign up at this link: https://forms.gle/NHCCsJFP8VWXVHNU7
PTA Fall Fundraiser 10/7 - 10/28
We have just a little over a week left to reach our goal of raising $5,000 through the PTA Fall Fundraiser with Boon Supply and AP Magazines. Thank you to all families that have already registered their students; we have a good start, but we are only about 20% to our goal, and we know we can do more! The easiest way to help is register your children for the fundraiser and send out the links to family, friends or co-workers; you never know who might want to help support your kids! All products will be shipped to homes, and there will be no money or checks to collect, so it's easy for parents! Both teachers and students have some great prize incentives, so be sure to register each student under their own teacher.
