A Matter of Equity, Access, Participation, & Rights
November 17, 2020 @ 7:00 PM
What is social justice in education? Please join us as we discuss social justice and its impact on equity, access, participation, and education rights.
We are pleased to have Dr. Anurima Bhargava facilitate this discussion. Dr. Bhargava served as the Chief of the Educational Opportunities Section of the Civil Rights Division at the U.S. Department of Justice from 2010-2016, where she led federal enforcement of civil rights laws in schools and institutions of higher education. Before joining the Department of Justice, Dr. Bhargava was Counsel and Director of the Education Practice at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. Currently, she serves as Founder and President of Anthem of Us, a strategic advisory firm that works with educational institutions and corporations to promote dignity and justice for all. Dr. Bhargava earned her law degree from Columbia Law School and graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University. She has a deep connection to Illinois as she was born and raised on the south side of Chicago.
