COAT AND BOOT DRIVE
Fall is the time of year to clean out our closets, and during the month of October, we are holding a district-wide winter coat and boot collection. Due to the growing need in our district we will be collecting new or gently used, clean coats of all sizes (infant through adult), in addition to other winter accessories (boots, hats, coats, scarves, snow pants, etc.). The items will be distributed to families in need within our district in early November.
Cowlishaw Elementary will be collecting clean, gently worn coats and boots from Monday October 17th through Monday October 31st. Please drop off by the main entrance of the school in the box(es) provided.
If you have any questions about the coat drive in your school, please contact Maria Murphy(email@example.com) or Jodie Moreno (firstname.lastname@example.org)
It’s time for our Fall Box Tops Collection Contest this October 10 through 21, 2016
Cowlishaw PTA will hold a contest to see which class can collect the most Box Tops for Education! This program supports many of the PTA-funded programs such as Accelerated Reader, Assemblies, and more! Turn in your Box Tops between October 10-21, and the classroom submitting the most will receive a prize.
Don’t forget to put your Box Tops in a bag or envelope with your teacher’s name on it!
If you have any questions, please contact Box Tops Chair Daina Saleh, email@example.com
Hey kids - Get everyone to see your creativity, send in entries for reflections. Everyone who participates gets a certificate!! The theme for this year is “What is your story”.

READ WITH RUSTY PROGRAM
We are happy to partner with the Chicago Steel Hockey team this year for an exciting new reading program! Your child has the chance to earn a free ticket to a Chicago Steel hockey game! On Friday, September 23rd, your child came home with a reading log and information on the program. This also included an order form for tickets on completion of the program. A portion of the sales of any additional tickets go back to the PTA. This form is due back to your child's teacher (with payment for any extra tickets) no later than December 7th, 2016. If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher or Tracy Hurley at email@example.com
PTA WELCOME COMMITTEE
Cowlishaw PTA Welcome Committee is looking for a couple of Spanish Speaking as well as Arabic Speaking "Ambassadors" to help us welcome the newly arrived students and their family.
When a new student transfers to Cowlishaw, we are hoping the ambassador family, who share a similar background or can speak the language of the new family, would be willing to be the contact person to welcome the family and to acclimate them to Cowlishaw and the area. When needed, the ambassador would find time to share with the new family knowledge about the school, the city, and the United States. Answering questions and addressing concerns of the new parents and students will be the main tasks of our Ambassadors.
Please contact Tracy Leung at 630-640-6501 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you can help!
