Paws for Tales Program

Reported by on 12/5/16

Longwood Elementary School is partnering with the Naperville Humane Society to bring a new reading program to Longwood School. This program, which is offered to selected students who have challenges with reading, provides an opportunity for the student to read to a trained and certified therapy dog for 15 minutes, twice a month. The dog, a golden retriever mix whose name is Zoey, comes to the school with her owner, a handler trained in animal assisted therapy, who is affiliated with the Naperville Humane Society. The purpose of this program is to increase motivation for reading.
