OPEN HOUSE… Welch’s Open House is THIS TUESDAY, February 21st from 6:00 - 7:00 PM. This is a great opportunity for students to highlight and share all they have learned this year with their families. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

YEARBOOKS… Yearbook Order Forms were sent home with students at the end of last week. This is your last chance to purchase a yearbook for the 2016-2017 school year! If you are unsure whether you have purchased a yearbook, please contact your student’s teacher. Yearbooks are $13.00 each and can be purchased online at book.hrimaging.com OR complete and return the Order Form. All orders are due March 10th.

SCIENCE FAIR… The 5th Annual Welch Elementary School Science Fair will be held on Friday, March 10 and is open to all students with an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). This is a fun opportunity for students to creatively explore an area that interests them and learn more through the exhibits of their peers. Display boards are available for $5 (colors include white, green, red, blue, yellow or black) and can be purchased at Open House on February 21 or from the school office while supplies last (checks payable to Welch PTA or exact change, please).

For more information and to register online, visit https://welchsciencefair.eventbrite.com and/or review the information distributed in class.

Parent volunteers are needed to help plan and run the event – please sign up using this link: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0444aaaf28a6fa7-2017.

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES… Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, March 2nd. If you are interested in a Parent Teacher Conference, please contact your child’s teacher!

KANE COUNTY COUGARS… The Kane County Cougars Ozzie Reading program begins Tuesday, February 21st and runs through April 18. Students who read 15 minutes daily will receive a free ticket and food voucher to a Kane County Cougars game. Welch's game day this year is May 21st at 1:00pm.

Happy Reading!

WELCH WHITE TIGER HOUSEHOLD SUPPLY DRIVE … When kids feel safe, secure, and have the basic supplies that they need day to day, they are better able to focus and learn. We want all of our Welch White Tigers to come to school feeling safe, happy, and ready to learn.

White Tigers work together, care about each other, and look out for each other.
Sometimes White Tigers help each other learn and sometimes they help by being good friends. One way White Tigers can help each other is by making sure everyone has what they need.

February 21-March 2, 2017, we are holding a School Wide Household Supply Challenge. We want our whole school to work together to reach the goal of bringing in 100 or more of the household supplies listed below.
If we reach 100, we will have a school wide pajama day.
If we reach 150, we will have a school wide pajama and movie day.
If we reach 200, we will have school wide pajama, movie, and popcorn day!

If you are able, please consider making a donation of the household supplies listed under your child(ren)’s grade level. These products are consumable and are always needed.

If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Lake, school social worker at 630-428-7062. Thank you so much for your generosity and support of our Welch White Tiger Family.

BOOK DRIVE… Do you have books you no longer need? Do you have books you'd like to share with others? We have an opportunity for you to donate your gently-used books to a great cause. A local student is doing a community service initiative. She is collecting for local organizations like People’s Resource Center. Please help this cause to make a difference in the lives of people who don't have access to the books we are so privileged to have. You may drop off any books at the designated box starting Monday, February 13th through Friday, March 7th. Thank you in advance for your support!

2017-2018 KINDERGARTEN PRE-REGISTRATION… If you have a child who will be five (5) years old on or before September 1, 2017, he or she is eligible to enroll in kindergarten for the 2017-18 school year. We are pleased to offer ALL-DAY kindergarten for your child.

You are invited and encouraged to attend a Kindergarten Parent Preview Night on April 19, 2017 at 6:30 PM in our LMC. At this meeting, we will provide a detailed look at what the kindergarten experience will offer. You will also be provided with more details related to registration requirements and deadlines. This night is designed for parents and guardians only.

We need the Pre-Registration ( https://goo.gl/FfOO9R ) information as soon as possible, but no later than February 24, 2017 so that we can begin planning kindergarten enrollment for the upcoming school year. This Pre-Registration information will be used to form a kindergarten mailing list. Once on the mailing list, additional information will be mailed to eligible kindergarten parents. Information regarding registration will be available after April.

If you have any neighbors who do not presently have school-aged children, but will have an incoming kindergartner, please give them a copy of this form or ask them to call our office at 630.428.7200 so that we can send them this information. I look forward to meeting you at the Kindergarten Parent Preview Night!
