Dear Brooks Families,
A very special congratulations to all the students who participated in our 4th Annual Brooks Idol on Friday evening. There was singing, dancing, gymnastics, instruments and comedy. The talents displayed by our Brooks students was stunning and I am so proud of each and every one of them. A shout out goes to Brooks teacher, Tracey Stiles, who organized this entire event. Well done, Sydnee Polk and Arjun Gupta for your outstanding emcee skills! In addition, thank you to all the staff members and parents who volunteered to assist with this very special event.
No School - March 2 and 3
Please check your calendar for March 2 and 3. There is no student attendance! March 2 is a parent teacher conference day. You should have already received communication from your child’s teacher if a conference was requested. On March 3, teachers will be participating in the district’s institute day, gaining valuable professional development.
PARCC Testing - grades 3-5
As March approaches, this is an important reminder that students in Grades 3-5 will take PARCC testing, as per the schedule below (please note the minor adjustment to previous schedule). Because the state provides us a testing window, it is important for us to adhere to our schedule. Therefore, we kindly ask you to consider these dates when scheduling vacations or appointments. Thank you, in advance, for your cooperation.

ON THE RADAR/REMINDER
Book Drive: Do you have books you no longer need? Do you have books you'd like to share with others? We have an opportunity for you to donate your gently-used books to a great cause. A former student is doing a community service initiative. She is collecting for local organizations like The Wheaton People’s Resource Center and schools within the city of Chicago. Please help this cause to make a difference in the lives of people who don't have access to the books we are so privileged to have. You may drop off any books at the designated box starting Monday, February 13th through Friday, March 7th. Thank you in advance for your support!
KINDERGARTEN PRE-REGISTRATION: If you have a child who will be five (5) years old on or before September 1, 2017, he or she is eligible to enroll in kindergarten for the 2017-18 school year. Please click on the link below to find the Kindergarten Pre Registration form. We use this information to plan for kindergarten sections next year, therefore, it is crucial this form be returned to the Brooks Office no later than February 28, 2017. Thank you in advance!
