Indian Prairie Educational Foundation and Hill Middle School’s Orchestra Department present Greg Boerner, singer and songwriter, performing with Hill Middle School Orchestra students at Hill Middle School as artist in residence on Monday, May 1st at 7:30 -8:30 pm in the upper gym.
Greg Boerner is a musician originally from Georgia, now residing in Aurora, who writes and performs original blues, country, ballad, rock, and folk music. He actively performs, teaches, and donates his time and talents to the community. He has performed at Aurora Library, Waubonsee College, Culture Stock, and at benefits for the Fox Valley Music Association. He has opened shows for Leon Russell, Patty Larkin, Robbie Fulks, Old 97's, Tinsley Ellis, Shemikia Copeland, Will Porter, Bill Morrissey, Chris Smither, Pierce Pettis, Jack Williams, Maria Mauldaut, Gove Scrivenor, and Wayne Toups. His music can be heard on album compilations, his own CD’s and record, and on several independent films.
Since January, students have been meeting every other week with Greg Boerner at Hill Middle School to arrange his music and work on solos and improvisations with him. They have also been composing, and sharing their music using collaborative composition software on their Google classroom site.
This evening, students will play their arrangements with Greg Boerner of his music, as well as solo and improvise on his songs. They will also perform their original arrangement of La La Land, and a variety of other music.
