MESSAGE FROM PTA PRESIDENT
As the school year comes to an end and I’m going into my last 2 weeks of being a PTA President, I would like to take this opportunity to share a few words with you!!
When I started my board position 2 years ago, I didn’t know what I was getting myself into.
I literally had no clue.
But these last 2 years have been amazing, informative, crazy, hectic, fun, rewarding and so on…
At times I obviously wondered what I got myself into, but seeing smiles on kids faces makes it the most rewarding job ever!
Me and my family will be leaving Cowlishaw unfortunately. But I hope you continue to support the Cowlishaw PTA, please know that the PTA does A LOT at school. More than you might realize.
A lot of volunteers put a lot of time, energy and money in all the programs and events that we run.
For next year I would love for more people to step up, to volunteer, even if it’s just 1 hour, your child will be so proud to see you volunteer at school and the PTA will be so thankful.
Please know we CAN NOT run events without your help. We need you!
The Field Day Link is still open for more volunteers! That will be the last time I asked for volunteers, I promise!
A big thank you to a lot of experienced chairs and volunteers that made my life a lot easier!
Thank you for helping me, having patience, answering my questions, supporting me and being there for us, for Cowlishaw, for the Koalas.
I am super thankful for the other ladies on the board. They supported me inside and outside the PTA! Jodie, Julie, Tanjie, Liz, Maria and Kristin, what an amazing group of women, that take time in their busy schedules to create, organize, plan, volunteer and run for their own child and all other Koalas!!
And super thankful for those who stepped up to join the board for next year. Kristin, Julie, Sabrina, Michelle, Kathy & Priya, I am wishing you a good school year with amazing events and lots of volunteers!
Wishing you all a good last 2 weeks of school and an amazing, fun and warm Summer Break!

SUMMER BREAK GARDENING
Hello Cowlishaw Families,
On behalf of Mrs. Eaton, we are looking for 1-2 families per week to water and weed our Cowlishaw garden. We welcome any student and their entire family to help! Families can come anytime from 7-3 Monday through Thursday (that is generally when the building is open).
Mr. Jorge, our custodian, typically keeps the key to the hose hookup and sets out the materials ahead of time, so long as we know when they're coming. Mrs Eaton will provide you with the contact numbers for Mr Jorge.
If you aren't sure what is a weed and what is a vegetable, Mrs Eaton is happy to help. When you sign for a gardening shift using the link below, you may also sign up for one of the training sessions or contact Mrs. Eaton directly. Her cell phone number is 630-201-5728 and her email address is firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note, that the spots have been created for Mondays. That will be day 1 of the week that you are volunteering for. Ideally you should try to come 2-3 days during your week. You are also welcome to harvest and take home any produce that is ready!
Please use the following link to sign up for this fun family activity!
You are invited to nominate an Equity Champion through the Parent Diversity Advisory Council (PDAC). Please consider nominating a staff member, teacher, principal, parent or community member that supports equitable access and opportunity for students. Entries accepted through June 30, 2017. Multiple Equity Champions are recognized at the annual PDAC World Café. The current PDAC District Leadership is ineligible for this award. To complete the nomination form, please scroll to the bottom of this PDAC subpage.
