PTA Volunteers Needed

Reported by on 5/24/17

Hello Spring Brook families!

First of all, thank you to those who have already volunteered to serve next year as committee chairs for the Spring Brook PTA--we are so excited to have you on board. We still need help filling the following positions--please email me or pass along to a friend if you are interested or want to learn more about any of the open positions below:

PLEASE NOTE--if we are unable to fill committee chair positions for events, they are in danger of being canceled for next year/future years. This is especially important for the Adult Social, Bingo for Books--without committee chairs/committees for these events, we cannot hold them. And without the funds raised at the Adult Social, we as a PTA will be much more limited in what financial resources we have to give back to the school, students, and families. We need YOU! Please consider donating your time and energy to these causes.

Adult Social Committee:
Time commitment--End of August to end of January
--Volunteers for this committee will help plan the event, help solicit silent auction raffle items, assist with decorations, aid in advertising, and set up and clean up (with additional volunteers the night of the event)

BINGO FOR BOOKS (1-2 committee chairs open)
Time commitment--Relatively low. Collecting books and setting up event until event night in February.

--Responsibilities include advertising event, collecting books for the prizes, organizing volunteers for night of the event and overseeing running of the night from start to finish. Last year's chairperson can answer questions.

IPPC Representative (1 chair position, 1 alternate position open)
Time commitment--A two-hour meeting from 9:30am-11:30am once at month at the district office. Typically 3rd Thursday of the month.

Responsibilities include attending monthly Indian Prairie Parents Council Meetings with the Spring Brook PTA president and sharing info with the SB PTA.

PDAC LIASION (1 committee chair position open)
Time commitment: low

Responsibilities include attending 2-3 meetings per year for the district diversity advisory council.

Time commitment--End of August through Spring Fling in March, most heavily from Jan-March

Our current Spring Fling chairpersons are willing to stay in their roles for another year, but would like to transition out of them for the following year. Being a Spring Fling apprentice means shadowing the current chairs and learning the process with the intention of becoming committee chairs for the event the following year. This is a critical role--Spring Fling is big event and has lots of moving pieces, and being an apprentice allows you to see and learn about them and working within a budget before you are the committee chair yourself. We are looking for someone for this role who will be prepared to become the Spring Fling chair the following year.

SIGN SPECIALIST (1 committee chair position open)
Time commitment--low, regular commitment

Thank you again,
Allison Fosdick
Spring Brook PTA President
