Principal Message 5/28
Reported by email@example.com on 5/28/17
Dear Brooks Families,
It seems like a few short months ago, I wrote my first email to the Brooks Community. Yet, here we are, wrapping up an incredible school year for our students, staff and families. I want to give each of you a heartfelt THANK YOU for welcoming me to the Brooks Family. I am honored and grateful to be leading the Brooks Team and the support of this community has been overwhelming. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I would be remiss if I didn’t briefly recap a few of the year’s highlights:
Students arrive daily, happy and eager to learn. Welcoming students off the bus is the best part of my day. They are happy, have much to share and bring great energy and excitement to our building!
Our students have learned, learned and learned more. Our formal and informal assessments demonstrate the tremendous growth made by our students.
Our teaching staff is a collaborative TEAM, working alongside one another and supporting each other as we focus on students.
Our team approach with families is to be admired. I have seen teachers and parents working together, on behalf of students, time and time again. Thank you for supporting our efforts!
Our students have developed new friendships and have learned to navigate unexpected situations and problem solve. They are learning life- long skills.
Our students have had more opportunities for technology integration and have utilized our LMC THINKER and MAKER spaces! Our students are practicing their 21st century skills!
Our Brooks community has benefitted from the many before and after school activities and events— bringing students and families together for fun and learning.
Next year will bring:
More opportunities for our new families to get involved and feel connected.
5th grade will pilot the Chromebooks as we move to 1-1 technology in the 2018-2019 school year.
Multiple teachers will pilot new science curriculum which will be fully implemented the following year.
Continued focus on ELA and math instruction— guided reading and math differentiation.
While we have much to be grateful for, we have more work to do! Brooks is an incredible learning environment and we will work diligently to make it even better. We thank you for being part of this exciting adventure!
The entire Staff wishes you a safe and enjoyable summer and we’ll see you in August!
FIELD DAY MESSAGE FROM PTA - JUNE 1
Parents - Please remember to apply sunscreen to your child and send them to school in comfortable shoes and clothing. The students will be running around and participating in games so dress your child in clothing appropriate for the weather. Also, remember to send them to school with a labeled water bottle. You are welcome to use the water bottle provided by the PTA, but please be sure to put your child’s name on it since there will be many that look alike.
We will be sending out individual emails with station assignments by May 31. If you do not receive an email by this date, please contact Jennifer Hopkins at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are looking forward to a fun-filled day!!
Important Medication Reminder
If your child has medication and/or medical supplies in the Brooks Health Office, please read: Per the District protocol, all medications and/or medical supplies are to be picked up by parents on the last day of school. On June 2, health services personnel will be available to assist you throughout the day. If you are unable to pick up your student’s supplies on that date, please contact the health office at 630-375-3200. Reminder: if your child will have medication in the health office next year, new physician orders will be required.
