PTA News for Week of 5/30

Reported by on 5/30/17

This is the final PTA News for the 2016-2017 school year. Thank you to all of the amazing volunteers who did so much this year! This includes people who donated to concession sales and volunteered at Teacher Appreciation, people who volunteered for Red Ribbon Week, Students of Distinction, LMC Volunteers, Bulldog Bash, Coat Drive— our Coordinators who organized School Supply Kit Sales, Reflections, Teacher Appreciation, Restaurant Nights and Box Tops. A big thank you to all the people involved in our amazing fundraisers: IM@STILL Parts One and Two! Thanks also to our amazing Board who helped organize all the activities and volunteers, and administered the Teacher Grants. It would be amazing to list every person who volunteered their time, energy and/or money to Still PTA this year, but there are too many to list! We are so fortunate to have such an amazing community at Still Middle School!

What we made: The Still PTA brought in a lot of money this year for our school! We kicked off the year by applying for and receiving a grant for $30,000 from the Dunham Fund, all of which went to renovating our LMC. In addition, the very successful IM@STILL Fundraisers brought in approximately $13,000! This money, combined with proceeds from Membership dues and donations, Restaurants Nights, Bulldog Bash Concessions, about $9000 total, gave us an opportunity to do some great things this year. How we spent it: Where did the money go? We gave approximately $6,000 to the school to subsidize year-end celebrations for every student at Still. We spent $4000 on Still Gives, an amazing program run by the school that helps Still Families struggling during the holiday season. We spent approximately $5500 on Teacher Grants which ranged from buying podiums for the Music Department, to cameras for the Art Department, to teaching aids for core teachers. We also used money to sponsor a STEM Movie Night. We spent around $1800 on Teacher Appreciation, which includes meals throughout the year as well as special gifts for Secretary's Day and Teacher Appreciation Week. We also spent money on required expenses such as dues to the Illinois PTA, the Indian Prairie Parents Council (IPPC), insurance and taxes. Finally, we end the year with a strong reserve for next year's STILL PTA to support even more activities and events for our faculty, staff and students.

WHAT DO YOU THINK? If you like the way the Still PTA is going or have suggestions or comments on how we can do better, let us know -- or even better, JOIN US!!

HAVE A GREAT SUMMER!! To those moving on to high school, enjoy your new adventure! And to the rest, we'll see you next year!

Thanks again,
