Dear Graham Families,
The summer has flown by. We have had some beautiful days. I hope you have all been able to enjoy your break.
I am looking forward to a great year and have been busily preparing for the start of the new school year! Enclosed in this letter are some reminders to help you start planning for the upcoming school year.
Back to School Letter
The Back to school Letter will be emailed in August and will also be placed on the school website.
Parents will utilize the online Eschoolplus Home Access System to learn the name of their child’s classroom teacher. Please remember to have your child’s student ID number accessible. Teacher assignments will be available on August 16 at 4PM in the Home Access Center. To access the Eschoolplus Home Access System, you will need the ESchoolPlus username and password that was distributed to you last school year. Please go to the following website to access the Eschoolplus Home Access System (https://homeaccess.ipsd.org/HomeAccess). If you do not have your username and password, please call the office (630-428-6900) for assistance.
o New students
New students and incoming kindergarten students will receive instructions on how to set up your Home Access Account.
o Eschoolplus General information
To log into Home Access Center (HAC) you need to claim your account. Parents/guardians will need to have access to the email account on file with the District. For parents/guardians of multiple students you will only need to do this once to see all your children. Directions are on Graham School’s website.

Opportunity for incoming Kindergarten students
August 16th at STILL MIDDLE SCHOOL
9:00 am to Noon or 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm
All students registering to attend Kindergarten in District 204 this fall are invited to attend the Annual Kindergarten Preview Day for Transportation and Food Service on August 16th at Still Middle School from 9 am to Noon or 1:30 pm to 4 pm.
This is an opportunity to get information on student bus transportation, safe walk routes to school, and the school lunch program. Representatives from food service and transportation will be available to answer questions.
Kindergartners who will ride the bus are encouraged to come to have their picture taken and receive their bus ID badge. For walkers, safety officials will be available to share information on safe walk routes.
Stop by the following booths and meet staff who will be ready to answer any questions you might have about:
Organic Life Food Service: Preview the elementary lunch line with your kindergartner and sample some food, learn how to use your school ID for lunch

Walking to School: Safe Walk Routes and Safety Rules
First Student: learn how to ride a bus safely from Buster the Robotic Bus, information on MOCK Day (riding the bus with your kindergartner), clowns, and balloons

YMCA – Safe and Sound Program: Learn about the Before and After School programs offered
Important August and September Dates
•Tuesday, August 15: Kindergarteners and students new to Graham School

•Monday, August 21: Meet and Greet / PTA Ice Cream Social
o2:30 pm – 3:00 pm Meet your child’s teacher and see the classroom

•Thursday, August 24: First Day of School (Grades 1-5)
oOn Thursday, August 24 children in grades 1-5 will line up outside. The first day of school is a full day from 9:05 am – 3:35 pm.
oKindergarten students and their parents will participate in a special one hour Kindergarten Orientation.

•Friday, August 25: Kindergarten Students’ First Day of School (full day of school)
o Please note that the First Full Day of Kindergarten Student Attendance is Friday, August 25th from 9:05 am - 3:35 pm. On their first full day of school, Kindergarten students will enter the building independently. Multiple staff members will be available throughout the building to help kindergarten students walk to their classroom.

o Session 1: 5:30 pm – 615 pm
o Session 2: 6:20 pm – 7:05 pm
If you live more than 1.5 miles away from the school, your child is eligible for bus transportation. In mid-August, parents will be able to visit the district's website and type in their home address to access bus route information. Additional information about bus routes will come out in August. Please be sure to check your child’s bus route for the 17-18 school year, as bus numbers and bus stops do sometimes change.
Lunch and Recess
Lunch is 20 minutes and recess is 15 minutes. Breakfast and Hot lunch is available and provided by Organic Life Food Service. It will begin on the first day of school. The cost of lunch is $2.65. Milk is included as a part of the cost of hot lunch. Breakfast is $1.60 per meal. For students who bring their lunch from home, to make A la Carte milk purchases place money on the student’s lunch card. The cost of a la carte milk is $.40 for white milk and $.50 for flavored milk. The lunchroom staff does not take money for milk. If your child is bringing lunch from home, please review with your child if he/she is to receive a carton of milk.
**The lunch/recess periods for the 2017-2018 school year are as follows:
11:35-12:10 - 5th Grade
12:00 – 12:35 - 4th Grade
12:25 – 1:00 - 2nd/3rd
12:50-1:25 - K/1st Grade
**Please be advised these lunch periods may change.
Online Meal and Fee Payments:
Payments can be made on a student’s lunch account by sending cash or check (payable: IPSD 204) to the school office, or online at pushcoin.com. The District encourages all families to register at no charge at pushcoin.com where you can sign up for automatic alerts and view your student’s lunch account. For a small processing fee, payments can be made directly on their account.

A “healthy snack time” is provided for kindergarten-5th grade students on a daily basis. This time is designated by the classroom teacher and does not interrupt instructional time. Due to early and late lunch periods, parents are free to provide their students with a substantial healthy snack to help students through their day.
