Principal's Message 8/19/17
Reported by firstname.lastname@example.org on 8/19/17
Dear Brooks Families,
Again, I want to welcome you back to the 2017-2018 school year! I want to highlight a very successful New Family Welcome last week. We had over 175 family members attend an informational session, then tour the building in small groups. A special thank you to our parent volunteers who served as ambassadors and provided our tours. What a wonderful event!
Teacher Meet and Greet/PTA Welcome Back Party: Please join us for a Teacher Meet and Greet on Monday, August 21 from 2:00-3:00. Teachers will be available to meet their new students and parents in classrooms beginning at 2:00. This is the only opportunity for teachers to be available to meet their students prior to the start of school. Please keep in mind, this is a fun event for the children. It is not to be used as a time to conference with teachers. Thank you for your understanding, as we want to provide an opportunity for ALL students to meet their teachers. Following the Meet and Greet, please join the PTA for a Welcome Back Party and cool treat! The Welcome Back Party takes place in the Multi-purpose room from 3:00-4:00.
First Day Information:
Thursday, August 24 first day of school for students in grades 1-5
Kindergarten visitation – see information below
On the first day of school, students will meet their teachers on the blacktop in the back of the school (weather permitting). For the first 6 days of school, staff members and parent volunteers will assist us in getting all students to the right location. If you would like to volunteer to help, please click the link below as we are still in need of volunteers!
** Important: Kindergarten students will not ride the bus to school on Thursday, August 24. Instead, we invite you to bring your child to kindergarten on the first day for a one hour orientation. This visit will familiarize your child with his/her new classroom, let him/her meet the teacher and will prepare all of our students for their first full day of kindergarten on Friday, August 25. Please plan your visit according to your last name and the schedule listed below.
Bus Routes – You may now access your child’s stop information on Home Access. A few copies of bus routes will also be available at Teacher Meet and Greet. Please note: Route change requests will only be considered if received in writing by the Department of Support Services. “Request to Add or Change a Bus Stop” form can be found on the district web-site at www.ipsd.org. It must be returned to the Brooks Office, will be reviewed, then forwarded to the Department of Support Services for approval/denial. After school begins, route changes will not be made until after the third week of school unless there is a safety concern.
Medical Compliance: All health forms including student physicals and proof of immunizations are required BEFORE the first day of school.
