Reported by terri_russell@ipsd.org on 9/10/17

Dear Brooks Families,

I hope you have enjoyed this beautiful weekend.  The children are in school, there is a hint of fall in the air and football season has begun!  It’s the perfect time of the year!  We look forward to seeing our parents/guardians at Curriculum Night this week.  What a great opportunity to learn about your child’s day.

MUST READ
Curriculum Night: Curriculum Night will be held on Wednesday, September 13 from 6:00-7:35 PM.  This is your opportunity to learn about your child’s classroom, the curriculum and grade level expectations.  The format of this evening is for parents and students should not attend.  Reserve your babysitter now!!

Red Cross:  With the tragic weather events in Texas and currently in Florida, Brooks is in the process of organizing a fundraiser with money being donated to the Red Cross.  Please be watching for upcoming information.  In the meantime, save your pennies and coins for some friendly classroom competition!

Labeling Envelopes:  When sending in money for various programs or events, PLEASE clearly label with your child’s first and last name, classroom teacher, and program (ex.  lunch money, field trip, PTA, etc)

Birthday Book Club:  Please be watching for a separate email that will highlight a special new program at Brooks— BIRTHDAY BOOK CLUB.  Information coming soon!

Movie Night Mania:  This exciting night will be in September 15th, doors open at 6:00pm. There is a $2.00 per person donation at the door, and the first 50 people will get a special prize! Wear your PJs and bring your pillows, blankets, and sleeping bags to join us for a “camp out” in the Brooks Gym! There will be plenty of food available for purchase at the concession stand as well as a raffle with great prizes to give away! All proceeds for the night go to the Indian Prairie Education Foundation! Come join us for a night of fun with your Brooks Family! Interested in volunteering? We would love your help! Academically Talented Parent Night:  Each year, we identify students for a myriad of academic programs that support student needs.  Each of these programs has a specific qualification process and criteria.  On Tuesday, September 19 at 6:00 pm, Brooks will host a parent information night on how school assessment data is used to identify students for the following programs:

Math Acceleration (starting in grade 3)
Project Arrow (gifted program, also starting in grade 3)

If you are interested in learning more about the guidelines for these programs, please complete the RSVP below.  You will also find specific information in the letter below.
