Community Service Project

Reported by debbie_matekaitis@ipsd.org on 9/26/17

Dear McCarty families,

The fifth grade is doing a community service project to help those affected by the recent hurricanes. Students are being asked to think of services that they can offer others in exchange for a charitable contribution. This lesson goes beyond what we teach them in the classroom as they learn to help others through their own efforts, or in other words, show kindness. This project is certainly not mandatory, but please consider the valuable life lesson your child will learn through helping those who need help. If materials are not sent home with your child and you are interested in your child participating, please contact your child's teacher and they will be able to share the necessary materials with you.

To go along with this service project, there will be a raffle for one of four custom-built reading benches. The raffle will begin on September 25th and run until October 31st. One of these benches would be a great addition to your child's classroom, so please consider stopping by the office to purchase a ticket in the name of your child's teacher.

Sincerely,
Keith Olson
