Thank everyone for attending the 2nd Annual Watch Dogs pizza night on September 22nd. It was a successful night that saw over 50 Dads sign-up for a volunteer day.
Those Dads who couldn’t attend the event or could not sign-up during the event can now sign up online. Spots are limited. So please sign up now to get your preferred slot.

To sign-up please click on the link here (link is case sensitive) or go to and go to “Find Signup” and enter email to go to the signup page.

A few notes… If you have more than one child, you can only sign-up for one right now. After Donuts with Dads, if there are still spots available, we will open sign-ups for an additional day.

The NED Show is a character education program that centers around three important messages that have lifelong relevance: Never give up, Encourage others and Do your best. During an in-school assembly on October 12th, students will learn about the importance of these three life skills while also enjoying storytelling, magic, humor and yo-yo tricks.

Reflections Arts Contest submission deadline is almost here!!! Submit your project(s) in the “Reflections Art Contest Submission Box” placed in the main entrance lobby, next to the school front office, from October 2nd until 3:00 PM on October 10th.

For forms, rules & regulations go to Cowlishaw Reflections website:

You may also go through the following slides to understand the Reflections program:

You can download the form from our Reflections site and print them on your own or we also have extra reflections forms available in our school office. There are no fees to participate in the Reflections Arts Program, the PTA is organizing this FREE program.

Ensure the following points while submitting the project:
- Each project must be submitted with one Entry Form.
- Use protective packing / envelope to ensure that the project does not get damaged.
- Every Entry Form must be legible, correct and complete. Parents/guardians may fill in the Entry Form.
- Strictly follow the Reflections rules specific to the art category, otherwise it will get disqualified by the judges.

Don’t miss this opportunity to showcase your children’s creativity. Every student with complete and valid submission(s) will get a “Reflections” certificate.

We are happy to again be participating in the Chicago Steel Hockey team Read With Rusty program! Your child has the chance to earn a free ticket to a Chicago Steel hockey game! Check your child’s backpack mail this week for a reading log and information on the program. There is also a section with an order form for extra tickets upon completion of the program. A portion of the sales of any additional tickets go back to the PTA. This form is due back to your child's teacher (along with payment for any extra tickets) no later than December 22nd, 2016. If you have any questions, please contact Kristin Wolfgram at

We are still looking for a Special Needs PTA chair. This person would attend the District Special Needs PTA meetings and report back any events or information to our Cowlishaw families via the weekly announcements. If you are interested in becoming the Representative for Cowlishaw, please contact one of our PTA Presidents.

Remember, paper Yankee Candle order forms are due TODAY!! The online Yankee sale will continue until 12/15.

THANK YOU to all who have already sold or donated!! We have currently raised about $2000 of our $12,000 goal! Remember the PTA will use this money to fund field trips, assemblies, classroom parties, and all our other great programs and events! To reach this goal, we are encouraging ALL Cowlishaw families to contribute any amount they are able (suggested amount $30 cash/check or sell $75 Yankee Candle). We will continue to collect cash/check donations throughout October. PLEASE write your student’s name and grade on the form or envelope to help us know where to deliver prizes. If you have any questions, please contact Katy Loo at

The Halloween party is Friday, October 27. We will be asking for candy donations and volunteers in the next couple weeks so stay tuned! If you are interested in helping with or volunteering at the party, please contact Michelle McCorkle at

Our PTA is using an online communication tool called This software was provided free to our school because of a partnership between MemberHub and our state PTA.

Cowlishaw PTA will use MemberHub to bring you into our school community and keep you informed and engaged with what is happening. Within our MemberHub site, you will find newsletters, signup sheets, shared calendar events, files, photos, reminders, and much more all in one place!

We have already emailed all paid PTA members an invitation to join Member Hub, as well as all Hubs that pertain to their families. If you still would like to become a PTA member, now’s the time! Please fill out our Membership Form (available on our school website under the PTA tab) and turn into the school office with the $15 fee ASAP. If you did not receive the email invitation to join and think you are a member or have any questions, please contact Kristin Wolfgram at

Clipping Box Tops is an easy way to help earn cash for our school. Each one is worth 10¢ for our school! Just look for the pink Box Tops on hundreds of products. Submit Box Top Certificates and Box Top codes to earn more. All you have to do is clip them and send them to school.

Please remember to mark the envelope or plastic bags with your child’s classroom, as we will be holding a contest in October. The classroom with the most clipped box tops will receive a prize!
