Principal's Message 10/22/17
Reported by email@example.com on 10/22/17
Dear Brooks Families,
Congratulations to all the student and staff IPEF runners who completed the Naperville ½ Marathon over the weekend. Collectively, the district’s IPEF runners collected over $172,000, which goes right back to our schools to enhance and enrich opportunities for our students. Brooks came in second place for fundraising among elementary schools! This earns us an extra $750 for our students. I’m so proud of our Brooks runners! You all ROCK!!
Parent Teacher Conference Sign Up - If you have not signed up for your child’s conference, please do so ASAP. The site closes on November 2.
Message from the Nurse - Illinois Vision Exams are due by November 15, 2017. This is a requirement of the State of Illinois for Kindergarten and New Students to Brooks. If you need a form, it may be downloaded from eSchool
Next PTA Meeting on 11/1/17 at 7:00 PM!!! - Just a friendly reminder from the PTA that our next PTA meeting will be on 11/1/17 at 7:00 PM in the Brooks cafeteria. In an attempt to do something a little different, we are asking everyone that comes to please bring a dish to pass! Main course, side dish, dessert, you pick! We will have a pot luck meal prior to the start of the meeting so that everyone that is there has a chance to chat with the board and we can get to know people better in a more relaxed setting.
Childcare will be available in the gymnasium, so feel free to bring the kiddos along with!
On the Radar/Reminders:
Transportation Changes: Each day, we dismiss nearly 800 children. In order to make sure your child is in the correct location, we ask for your help. If your child’s dismissal plan changes, please write a note to your child’s teacher. This information gets shared with the office. In addition, if your child rides a daycare van, you must contact the daycare as well. Daycare vans are often delayed as they wait for students who they think they should picked up. Thank you in advance.
Pop Tab Collection - Brooks School is now collecting pop tabs which will be donated to Ronald McDonald House. The pop tabs are recycled, resulting in a monetary donation back to Ronald McDonald House. This incredible organization provides housing for children and families going through medical challenges. If you would like to save and donate your pop tabs, they may be dropped off in the school office. Thank you!
—Furry Fridays - Brooks Elementary is excited to announce the beginning of Furry Fridays in partnership with the Naperville Humane Society and the PAWS for Tales Reading Program!
Each Friday a certified therapy dog will visit our school and students will be invited by their teacher to read to the dog! Our new friends are Zoey and Cubbie and they will be at Brooks on alternating Fridays beginning October 27. In order for your child to have the opportunity to participate, the Naperville Humane Society requires that you sign a release form which will be sent directly from your child’s teacher. Please just let your teacher know if your child should absolutely NOT participate (allergies, fear of dogs, etc)
Labeling Envelopes: When sending in money for various programs or events, PLEASE clearly label with your child’s first and last name, classroom teacher, and program (ex. lunch money, field trip, PTA, etc)
