Students at Still create portraits for the Memory Project
Reported by firstname.lastname@example.org on 11/9/17
The Memory Project is a charitable nonprofit organization that invites art teachers and their students to create and donate portraits to youth around the world who have faced substantial challenges, such as neglect, abuse, loss of parents, violence, and extreme poverty.
For the art students at Still Middle School, this was an opportunity to creatively practice kindness and global awareness. Seventeen 8th grade students chose to be part of this amazing project. They worked for weeks to recreate a portrait of an orphan from the Philippines.
The students also wrote a note on the back in their language and attached a picture of themselves holding their drawing. The children will receive the portraits as a gift to open around the holidays. A monetary donation was made to the children on behalf of Still Middle school.
