Toy Drive 11/27-12/8

Reported by debbie_matekaitis@ipsd.org on 11/28/17

The holiday season is soon approaching and McCarty Elementary School is participating in the Gift Mart toy drive going on throughout District 204. Gift Mart benefits under resourced children in Indian Prairie School District 204! These families come from households in financial stress who may not otherwise be able to afford gifts for the holidays.

Gift Mart, a local organization helping families throughout the area, will be holding a holiday event and shopping experience for invited families on December 16th. Parents will be able to select and pay $2 for each gift they choose for their children at the Gift Mart Toy Shop. They also can choose to have their gifts wrapped and ready in the Gift Mart wrapping center. So they don’t need to worry about child-care, their children can come and enjoy time doing a holiday craft and having a yummy snack while the parents shop. The money the parents spend on their child’s gifts will go directly back to their child’s home school to help pay for much needed resources. The toy drive McCarty has so generously agreed to host directly helps make Gift Mart a great experience for all!

After the event, any remaining toys will be distributed in the community. For additional information about Gift Mart and the event, you can visit www.communitygiftmart.org.

Toy donation boxes will be in McCarty from November 27th until December 8th. If you would like to participate in the drive, please bring an unwrapped, new, $15-20 toy for a child between the ages of 6 and 12 to the school and place it in one of the collection boxes located in McCarty.

Your generosity and giving spirit is appreciated.
