Dear Brooks Families,

LAST CALL - Gift Mart - Community Service Opportunity
This year our school will once again be partnering with Gift Mart Wheatland Community in holding a toy drive to benefit under resourced children in Indian Prairie School District 204! These families come from households in financial stress whom may not otherwise be able to afford gifts for the holidays.
Gift Mart is a program that provides families who qualify with a “hand up” during the holiday season. By invitation parents and guardians are invited to a toyshop where they can purchase new toys for only $2.00 per toy. 100% of the proceeds made from the sale of each toy will be donated back to each invited school to fund much needed resources.
Please consider donating a new, unwrapped toy that is safe for children ages 6-12. No stuffed animals or board games, please. There will be a Gift Mart toy box located inside of the school until December 8th.
Thank you for your generosity and participation! To learn more about Gift Mart please visit

This is the time of year when many of our families take extended vacations. Thank you for contacting your child’s teacher and the attendance office at 630-375-3200 x3. Please keep in mind that homework will not be sent in advance. Your child will have adequate time for make up work upon his/her return.

Winter Parties
Later this month, our students will celebrate their first PTA sponsored party of the year— the Winter Party, on December 22 from 2:00-3:00. You should have already received information from your lead room parent about volunteer opportunities for the 2 parties celebrated throughout the year. This is a proactive reminder about party protocol. We welcome your attendance IF you have signed up through PTA. We will have your name badges prepared and ready for entrance. If you have not signed up for a party, you will not be allowed to enter. This is not meant to be exclusive of any of our families. When we consider class size, activity level and fire code requirements, we simply cannot accommodate more parents than have signed up. If you are volunteering, siblings are not allowed to attend. In addition, food is not provided by the PTA. We kindly ask you to send an extra snack for your child that day. I hope this advanced information will allow you to plan accordingly. If you do not know if you are a volunteer for a room party, you may contact your lead room parent or the room parent coordinator, Mrs. Paula Meyers at

Watch Dogs
Thank you to all our dads who have participated in Watch Dogs! We have had a huge turn out each Friday. Due to the significant demands in the office, we are kindly going to ask our Dads/students to take a selfie by the Giving Tree. Between student, teacher and parent needs, phone calls and 24 extra guests in a short period of time, our office staff is finding it difficult to leave the office to take pictures. We thank you in advance for your understanding!

Recess Reminder - As the weather turns cooler, please make sure your child is dressed for the weather. In staying with district procedure, students will go outside if the temperature/wind chill is above 5 degrees. Additionally, playground conditions are taken into account. All research supports the benefit of daily exercise and fresh air, so we want our students prepared for their short outdoor exercise break!

Pop Tab Collection - Brooks School is now collecting pop tabs which will be donated to Ronald McDonald House. The pop tabs are recycled, resulting in a monetary donation back to Ronald McDonald House. This incredible organization provides housing for children and families going through medical challenges. If you would like to save and donate your pop tabs, they may be dropped off in the school office. Thank you!
