Parents of High School Students:
Marijuana affects the adolescent brain differently than the adult brain because it is not fully developed. New research finds chronic exposure to THC during brain development risks lasting brain damage for those who start use during their teens. While the use can be intended for coping with stress, studies find lowered life satisfaction, education, and job and financial stability in those whose persistent use began in adolescence. The latest research along with tips on how to prevent marijuana use in teens is available in December’s newsletter: Marijuana and the Developing Teen Brain.
