Hour of Code
Reported by email@example.com on 12/12/17
Longwood students in grades 2-5 participated in Hour of Code last week. Hour of Code is a global movement to bring computer coding into schools. During Hour of Code students learned what it means to code a computer and participated in various coding activities. Some activities students participated in included learning to code a character to move through a Minecraft game, learning to code Angry Birds, participating in a Star Wars coding activity and learning how to use code to create a Google Doodle. On Friday we were fortunate to have Argonne scientist Kibaek Kim come talk about his job using computers to solve energy problems in our country. He talked to students about how he became interested in computers, his education, and how he uses computers to solve problems related to energy. He also assisted students as they completed coding activities. We are proud to be part of this international celebration and grateful to Argonne National Laboratory for sending us Mr. Kim to help celebrate!
