Principal's Message 1/20/18
Reported by firstname.lastname@example.org on 1/20/18
Dear Brooks Families,
I hope you are enjoying this relatively warm weekend? Did anyone else sit in a car wash line that required enormous patience?!!
Save the Date!
Brooks is proud to host our first Tim Hannig Pro Kids Show Family Night on Monday, February 12 at 6:30 p.m. The Pro Kids Show will also present 2 assemblies for our students during the school day. Tim Hannig has a passion
for encouraging kids to make good choices that reflect positive character qualities. He uses magic, music, comedy and acting to share his message. We thank the Brooks IPEF runners for making this program possible. The money raised by “Team Brooks” is funding this exciting program. Please mark your calendar and join us!! If you are interested in learning more about the show, you may visit Tim Hannig’s website at pkshow.com
Valentine Party, February 14 - Each student will participate in a PTA sponsored Valentine Party. Volunteers may begin arriving at 1:45 and classroom doors will open at 2:00. You should have already received information from your lead room parent if you have been selected to volunteer at this party. This is a proactive reminder about party protocol. We welcome your attendance IF you have signed up through PTA. In addition, teachers will provide time in the day for a Valentine Exchange.
1. If your child chooses to participate, he/she should include a Valentine for EVERY classmate. No child should be left out.
2. Due to food allergies and health needs, we highly recommend a CARD ONLY. However, we recognize that many Valentines now come with candy as part of the card (in other words, a lollipop or candy heart). You may send those valentines with your child. If you choose to attach something to your card, please consider a NON-EDIBLE treat such as a pencil, eraser or Valentine sticker/tattoo.
3. NO peanut products, homemade goods or goodie bags are allowed.
4. ALL Valentines will be collected in a collection box/bag and sent home. NO CANDY will be eaten at school.
Everyone's cooperation in following health/safety rules will allow us to have a fun and safe Valentine Exchange. I hope this advanced information will allow you to plan accordingly. If you do not know if you are a volunteer for a room party, you may contact your lead room parent or the room parent coordinator, Paula Meyers at email@example.com
Parent Survey - We Need YOU!! Please take a few moments to complete the State of Illinois Survey on Brooks School. This information will help us make Brooks the best it can be. Currently, 29% of our families have completed the survey, but our goal is 50%. We can do this! The deadline is January 31.
To take this short survey:
1. Visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/login/
2. Type and then select Dupage as District 204's County location. This is the county associated with the district, not the location of an individual school.
3. Type your school's name into the School field and then select your school.

What is #FutureReady204?
Community members are invited to attend the next Engage 204 session on January 29 from 7 to 9 pm at Still Middle School, 787 Meadowridge Drive, Aurora. This session will focus on "What is #FutureReady204?" Experts have stated that the majority of students entering elementary school today will be working in jobs that have not been created yet, using tools that have not been invented yet, solving problems that have not been thought of yet. During this interactive session, administrators will share how education is changing to help students develop life and work skills that will be needed in the future.
Engage 204 is a collaborative process between the community and District 204. Key to the success of this process is the collaboration and discussion between participants. District residents who attend will have the unique opportunity to share ideas and discuss topics in small groups in order to provide feedback to the Board of Education. Findings and recommendations will be presented to the Board of Education by July 2018. All District 204 residents are invited to participate in Engage 204.
RSVP is appreciated, but not required at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Engage204RSVP.
