Finalizing Course Selection for 2018-19
Reported by email@example.com on 1/31/18
Warrior Families, today, January 31st, is the last day Home Access Center was open for students and families to enter course requests for the 2018-19 school year. At this time students will no longer be able to enter their own course requests. If your student did not enter their course requests during the previous two weeks, January 16th through January 31st, they will have one more opportunity to lock in their course requests for next year.
Over the next two weeks, between January 29th and February 9th, students will be called down to their school counselor’s office to confirm course selection. These appointments will take place during science classes. It is important that students have carefully considered their course options and made decisions about the courses they will be taking next year. Because of the volume of students that need to be seen during these two weeks, each student appointment will be approximately five minutes. These are short appointments meant to confirm courses and review graduation requirements. We strongly encourage you to have conversations with your student about course selection so that they come to their meeting prepared.
If your student has questions or concerns about the level (college prep, honors, or AP) of core class that they have been recommended for, these questions should be directed to the appropriate academic department chair. These recommendations were made by the student’s current teacher and cannot be changed by a counselor. Level changes up or down must be approved by an academic department chair. Once a level change has been requested in writing to the department chair, department chairs will make an approval decision and inform the school counselor. To be considered for a level change, requests must be received no later than Friday, February 9th. Below we have listed the contact information for core academic department chairs.
