Dear Brooks Families,

Happy Super Bowl Sunday! We have many exciting activities and events coming up! Please don’t miss out!

Must Read:

Save the Date - Flyer coming in backpacks on Monday!
Brooks is proud to host our first Tim Hannig Pro Kids Show Family Night on Monday, February 12 at 6:30 p.m. The Pro Kids Show will also present 2 assemblies for our students during the school day. Tim Hannig has a passion
for encouraging kids to make good choices that reflect positive character qualities. He uses magic, music, comedy and acting to share his message. We thank the Brooks IPEF runners for making this program possible. The money raised by “Team Brooks” is funding this exciting program. Please mark your calendar and join us!! If you are interested in learning more about the show, you may visit Tim Hannig’s website at

Chick-Fil-A Day
Brooks Elementary and Young Elementary are hosting our first collaborative Chick-Fil-A Day on Tuesday, February 13. No matter what time of day you go, just mention BROOKS SCHOOL and a portion of your proceeds go right back to the Brooks PTA. Mrs. Russell can’t pass up Chicken nuggets, so please join me for food and fun!! I’ll be there at 5:00!

Spring Conferences
On Thursday, March 1, optional Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held. If your child’s teacher is requesting a conference, you will be notified on February 16. If you don’t hear from your child’s teacher, a conference is not being requested at this time. If a conference has not been requested, but you feel as though you need to meet with your child’s teacher, please contact him/her directly.

We invite you to consider representing our school as part of Team IPEF in 2018. Click the following link to see who's already signed up to run for us!

It’s about more than just running. Team IPEF offers a unique opportunity to run for a cause and make a difference for your school. Last year 335 runner raised more than $178,000 to help enrich education in all District 204 schools.

Runners commit to raise a minimum of $204 for 204 as they train and complete the Naperville Half Marathon or 5K on Sunday, October 21, 2018. All charity runners receive a discount off race registration and get to choose a District 204 school they would like to represent. Visit— to learn more or sign-up.

Brooks Idol Rehearsal
If your child is in Brooks Idol, the dress rehearsal schedule will be given to your child through backpack mail on Monday, February 5. Please make sure to read the directions and know which date your child is scheduled. The dates are February 13 and 14 from 3:40-4:30. Contact Tracey Stiles with any questions!

Traffic Reminders
In order to keep our LONG car line moving, please do not make a left hand turn out of the teacher parking lot after dropping off or picking up your child. In addition, we are getting calls from our neighbors about driveways being blocked when picking up students outside of the car line. Thank you for being cognizant of where you are parking. We thank you for your cooperation.

On the Radar/Reminders

Valentine Grams from Student Council
Valentine Grams will be sent home through backpack mail on January 29. You can treat your child, grandchild, or friend to a special Valentine Gram delivered to their classroom on February 14. You may send your money and greeting to the office in a marked envelope by February 7 for delivery of the Valentine Gram. There will be a special collection box in the office. Additional grams can be picked up in the office. Please cut out the completed greeting cards below, put them in an envelope with the appropriate amount of money (cash or check made out to Brooks Elementary School and either bring them to the school office or send them to school by February 7. Cost per Valentine Gram is $.50 each. Valentine Grams will also be sold in the MPR, for all students to purchase, during lunch on February 5, 6, and 7. If your child would like to purchase additional Valentine Grams, please send exact change with your child. All proceeds received by Student Council go right back to the school to support special activities or are donated to charitable organizations. We are proud of our students and families for giving back to others!

Valentine Party, February 14 - Each student will participate in a PTA sponsored Valentine Party. Volunteers may begin arriving at 1:45 and classroom doors will open at 2:00. You should have already received information from your lead room parent if you have been selected to volunteer at this party. This is a proactive reminder about party protocol. We welcome your attendance IF you have signed up through PTA. In addition, teachers will provide time in the day for a Valentine Exchange.
1. If your child chooses to participate, he/she should include a Valentine for EVERY classmate. No child should be left out.
2. Due to food allergies and health needs, we highly recommend a CARD ONLY. However, we recognize that many Valentines now come with candy as part of the card (in other words, a lollipop or candy heart). You may send those valentines with your child. If you choose to attach something to your card, please consider a NON-EDIBLE treat such as a pencil, eraser or Valentine sticker/tattoo.
3. NO peanut products, homemade goods or goodie bags are allowed.

4. ALL Valentines will be collected in a collection box/bag and sent home. NO CANDY will be eaten at school.

Everyone's cooperation in following health/safety rules will allow us to have a fun and safe Valentine Exchange. I hope this advanced information will allow you to plan accordingly. If you do not know if you are a volunteer for a room party, you may contact your lead room parent or the room parent coordinator, Paula Meyers at

Pop Tab Collection - Brooks School is now collecting pop tabs which will be donated to Ronald McDonald House. The pop tabs are recycled, resulting in a monetary donation back to Ronald McDonald House. This incredible organization provides housing for children and families going through medical challenges. If you would like to save and donate your pop tabs, they may be dropped off in the school office. Thank you!
