This past weekend, Thursday, Feb. 1- Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, the Waubonsie Model UN team competed at the University of Chicago Model UN (MUNUC) conference. There were 3,000 student delegates representing more than 125 high schools from 14 states and 11 different countries. It is one of the largest high school conferences in the country and is regarded as one of the most prestigious. The conference lasts for four days, during which students representing the member states of the United Nations debate international issues ranging from the sex trafficking, women’s rights, refugees and other crisis committees. MUNUC simulations involve delegations of students who work with one another in their respective committees to produce mock resolutions on global issues. The students must employ diplomacy, critical thinking and global problem solving to be successful.

This year our delegates represented the country of Belgium and did a fantastic job.

The following delegates earned the following prestigious awards:

Honorable Delegation:
Mr. Sagar Tiwari and Mr. Kevin Cong representing Belgium on the European Council

Verbal Commendation:
Mr. Amogh Raula and Ms. Aishani Shukla representing Belgium on the Organization for Cooperation and Development
