Ellis Island Rescheduled! Volunteer Opportunity!

Reported by on 2/12/18

Hello 8th grade parents! Due to the snow day last Friday, Ellis Island has been rescheduled for this Friday, February 16.

Have I got an opportunity for you!!! Our annual Ellis Island experience is coming on Friday, February 16th and we could use your help. We have two different times during the day that parents can assist in the Ellis experience. Please read on for details.

If you can help… and I know you want to, please sign up at the following: indicate which session you can help. If you can do both sessions… awesome!

Thanks for volunteering for Ellis Island Day.

Session 1: The 8:00-10:20 session is the Ellis Island experience.

Parents need to be at Gregory around 7:40ish so they can get the rundown of the morning, walk through the path, get a job and get ready. We will be done with this portion by 10:20. We could use 18-20 people for this session. Speaking a language other than English is the plan, so all those second language types are perfect for this job. Don’t let the language piece scare you off. A year of college French 20 years ago, having just watched a foreign movie with subtitles, or putting your own twist on Dutch or Italian works! Dress for this shift is black pants and a white top.
Please bring a pen for marking paperwork.

Session 2: The 11:30-1:10 session is the New York City experience.

Parents need to be here around 11:00 for a rundown and job assignments. We could use another 15-20 people for this session. Speaking English is the norm for this portion of the day. Dress is the same... black pants and a white top. In this session parents will either be Constitution test givers, Shop/factory owners, apartment owners, or crowd controllers. (All fun).

Please sign up at and mark session(s) you want to help.

Thanks in advance and I’ll see you on Feb 16th !
