Message from the Superintendent

Reported by on 2/15/18

Dear District 204 Community,

With the tragic events that occurred yesterday in Florida, I want to take a moment to reassure you that school safety is a top priority in our district. While there is no way to guarantee that such a tragedy will never happen again, there are most definitely preventative steps we take to address the safety and security of our students.

A priority for us each and every day is the safety of our students and staff — from installing security systems at our front doors, to training our staff, to working closely with the Naperville and Aurora Police Departments and their School Resource Officers who work in our buildings. In addition, we have a former police officer who works full-time as our Coordinator of School Safety and Security.

Beyond security procedures, one of the most important things we can do is spend time getting to know our students. Having our teachers make meaningful connections with their students can be one of the most impactful things that can make a difference when a student is struggling emotionally and needs extra support.

If you have concerns about your child's reaction to the news from yesterday, please don’t hesitate to contact your principal. Support is always available for your child through the school.
