Monarch Award

Reported by on 2/21/18

Spring Brook Families,

The Monarch Award is a state-wide readers’ choice program with a list of 20 nominee titles. In January, I booktalked the 20 nominees to students grades K-2. Classroom teachers read at least 10 of the titles. The award is designed to encourage children to read critically and become familiar with children's books, authors, and illustrators. This award has been a fantastic opportunity for the LMC to partner with K-2 classroom teachers, use our MakerSpace materials, and bring Principal Worst in to spur enthusiasm for reading. Participating students have the opportunity to vote for their favorite Monarch title on March 8 and 9.
Ask your child which is their favorite Monarch book so far. Our Monarch vote is planned for March 8 and 9th and the winning book for the state will be announced later in March.
