Dear Brooks Families,

Please join us on Monday, March 12 from 6:00-7:30 for Brooks’ Open House. Families will have the opportunity to visit classrooms, talk with teachers and view the amazing work completed by our students. See you there!

Must Read:

If you have a child who will be five (5) years old on or before September 1, 2018, he or she is eligible to enroll in kindergarten for the 2018-19 school year.
You are invited and encouraged to attend a Kindergarten Parent Preview Night on March 21 at 6:00 PM in the Gym. At this meeting, we will provide a detailed look at what the kindergarten experience will offer. You will also be provided with more details related to registration requirements and deadlines. This night is designed for parents and guardians only.
We need the Information Sheet on the attached page prior to orientation so that we can begin planning kindergarten enrollment for the upcoming school year. This Pre-Registration information will be used to form a kindergarten mailing list. Once on the mailing list, additional information will be mailed to eligible kindergarten parents. Information regarding registration will be available after April.
If you have any neighbors who do not presently have school-aged children, but will have an incoming kindergartner, please give them a copy of this form or ask them to call our office at 630-375-3200 so that we can send them this information. I look forward to meeting you at the Kindergarten Parent Preview Night.

During the months of March and April, our students in grades 3-5 will be participating in PARCC testing. The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) is the state assessment and accountability measure for Illinois students enrolled in a public school district. PARCC assesses the Illinois Learning— Standards Incorporating the Common Core and will be administered in English Language Arts and Mathematics. Listed below, you will find the Brooks tentative schedule for testing. We respectfully ask you to consider these dates when planning vacations and medical appointments. It’s important your child be in school barring illness. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Engage 204 on March 20
The community is invited to attend Engage 204 from 7 to 9 pm on Tuesday, March 20 at Still Middle School, 787 Meadowridge Drive, Aurora. This session will focus on the district's budget.
Previous sessions have looked at academic programs, demographics, and facilities. Some of the topics discussed by presenters and attendees have included class sizes, teacher pay, mental health support, facility use, and maintenance projects. At this session, presenters will discuss the cost of some of the ideas and attendees will be asked to prioritize the ideas. Additionally, there will be an opportunity to provide feedback on how to financially support the ideas considering the district's limited resources.
Engage 204 is a collaborative process between the community and District 204. Key to the success of this process is the collaboration and discussion between participants. District residents who attend will have the unique opportunity to share ideas and discuss topics in small groups in order to provide feedback to the Board of Education. Findings and recommendations will be presented to the Board of Education in July 2018. All District 204 residents are invited to participate in Engage 204.
RSVP is appreciated, but not required at RSVP. For more information, visit Engage 204.
