Fry Elementary School Weekly Announcements 3/12/18
Want to make an extra $400 a month AND avoid waiting in the Fry carline?
Crossing guards are paid $20 per day! Work commitment is 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes in the afternoon (8:45-9:05 and 3:30-3:50) each school day. Interested or know someone who is? Please contact the Fry office for more information about the application process.
Tonight is Fry Open House! Students are invited to guide their family members around the building to learn more about "a day in the life" of their Fry student. Doors open at 6:30.
Fry’s Book Fair is coming! The book fair will be in our Library Media Center during the week of March 12-15th. We will be open before and after school, and during Open House on Monday night. Students and families are invited to shop during the following days and times. During school hours, please remember to sign in at the office first before heading to the book fair.
FRY LMC BOOK FAIR HOURS
Monday, March 12th 8:45 am – 4:15 pm
& 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm Open House
Tuesday, March 13th 8:45 am – 4:00 pm
Wednesday, March 14th 9:00 am-4:15pm
Thursday, March 15th 8:45 am-12:00 pm
On Friday, March 9th, students will be able to visit the book fair and fill out a "Wish List." Please look for these "Wish Lists" to come home, as they will be useful when searching for the books you may be interested in purchasing. It is also very helpful to have them with you as you are browsing at the Book Fair since table numbers and case letters are listed on the Wish Lists and students will know right where to go to find the book they were wishing for.
If you plan to allow your child to shop on their own and send money with your child for the book fair, please include 7.5% sales tax. Checks may be sent and made payable to Fry Elementary. Please include your phone number on all checks. If you prefer to shop with your child, we will be accepting all major credit cards. Books shown on the flyer we are sending home or on wish lists are not guaranteed to still be at the fair when you visit, however, you would have the option to purchase them on the ABC Fairs website and have them sent to school – free shipping and our school receives a percentage of the profit! Here is the link:
We look forward to seeing you at the upcoming fair! All proceeds from sales at the book fair go towards purchasing additional materials for our library. As always, your support is greatly appreciated!
Old Town Pizza Day
This Friday, March 16th is Fry/Old Town Pizza fundraising day! A portion of each purchase comes back to Fry. Please use the attached form when ordering. Thank you for your support!
Engage 204 on March 20
The community is invited to attend Engage 204 from 7 to 9 pm on Tuesday, March 20 at Still Middle School, 787 Meadowridge Drive, Aurora. This session will focus on the district's budget.
Previous sessions have looked at academic programs, demographics, and facilities. Some of the topics discussed by presenters and attendees have included class sizes, teacher pay, mental health support, facility use, and maintenance projects. At this session, presenters will discuss the cost of some of the ideas and attendees will be asked to prioritize the ideas. Additionally, there will be an opportunity to provide feedback on how to financially support the ideas considering the district's limited resources.
Engage 204 is a collaborative process between the community and District 204. Key to the success of this process is the collaboration and discussion between participants. District residents who attend will have the unique opportunity to share ideas and discuss topics in small groups in order to provide feedback to the Board of Education. Findings and recommendations will be presented to the Board of Education in July 2018. All District 204 residents are invited to participate in Engage 204.
RSVP is appreciated, but not required at RSVP. For more information, visit Engage 204.
