The Career Week Committee is looking for parents of 4th and 5th graders to come and talk to our students about your career during our annual Career Day on May 4th in the afternoon.

The responsibilities of the speakers are very simple.
You will give a presentation lasting 15 to 20 minutes to three or four groups of students.
We will assist you by providing a list of ideas if you are not sure what to include in the talk.
We are very interested in looking for moms and dads from a variety of careers, professions, and trades.
This is a great way to show off in your child’s class!

If you don’t like public speaking, please consider being a parent volunteer on that day to help out in the classroom. The responsibilities of the parent volunteer include:

Introduce the name of the speaker and ask the students to applaud the speaker before and after the talk
Monitor the time and give the speaker a reminder when there is 5 minutes remaining
Asking the students to quietly get up and move to another classroom

Please contact Tracy Leung (630) 640-6501 or if you are interested in either of these positions. In the email, please include your name, phone number, and your profession. Thank you very much in advance for your interest to help out!

Parent Diversity Advisory Council (PDAC)
At last month’s PDAC meeting focused on Understanding and Addressing Abilities Advantages, we learned about the importance of communicating what every student is able to accomplish. Guest speakers and meeting activities provided opportunities to heighten our awareness and understanding surrounding abilities. The meeting presentation slides are now available on the PDAC subpage.

The next PDAC meeting is on Thursday, March 15th, 7-9:00 p.m., at Crouse Education Center, 780 Shoreline Drive in Aurora. The topic is Understanding and Addressing Language Advantages: How do students’ home languages advantage and disadvantage them in school? Please visit the PDAC meeting calendar or the PDAC subpage to learn more about PDAC.
