CAREER WEEK VOLUNTEERS
Do you have an exciting career that you would like to share with the 4th and 5th graders on Career Day, May 4th from 2 to 3:15pm? Are you a pilot, flight attendant, mechanic, carpenter, builder, electrician, architect, chief, journalist, radio announcer, lawyer, restaurant owner, or grocery store manager? Do you know any roofer, accountant, judge, actor, animal groomer that you would recommend for us to contact? We are looking to 8 exciting speakers who have interesting careers to share with our students. You DO NOT need to be the parents of 4th and 5th graders to volunteer!
The responsibilities of the speakers are very simple.
You will give a presentation about your career lasting 15 minutes to 4 groups of students.
We will assist you by providing a list of ideas if you are not sure what to include in the talk.
Don’t like public speaking? Please consider being a parent volunteer on that day to help out in the classroom. The responsibilities of the parent volunteer include:
Introduce the name of the speaker and ask the students to applaud the speaker before and after the talk
Monitor the time and give the speaker a reminder when there is 5 minutes remaining
Ask the students to quietly get up and move to another classroom
Please contact Tracy Leung (630) 640-6501 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in either one of these 2 positions. In the email, please include your name, phone number, and your profession. Thank you very much in advance for your interest to help out!
SCHOOL SUPPLY KITS
Last year there were issues with the school supply kit vendor delivering the supplies to our students on time. As such, we have contracted with a new company, Carlson School Kits, for next year’s delivery. Carlson School Kits is a local/family-owned company that has been in business for 103 years, 29 of those doing school kits. Other district #204 schools have provided good feedback on their experiences with Carlson.
Carlson’s builds their kits based on the teacher's lists and offers home delivery of the supplies. So, parents don't have to wait in long queues during 'Meet and Greet'! Please look out for the flyers coming back home in a couple of days in koala folders. In case of any questions, please contact Dipti Mittal (email@example.com).
New volunteer shifts available at the LMC. We are looking for volunteers to work from 11am-1pm any day M-F. Also looking for volunteers Monday or Thursday afternoons from 1/1:30-3/3:30pm. Volunteers shelve books, help students, repair and cover books.
FIELD DAY SHIRTS
We will be selling optional school field day shirts this year for $8. Each grade’s shirt will be a different color and that color will remain the same for each grade throughout their time at Cowlishaw. The order forms came home in backpack mail last week or order online using the link below. Tax will be added to online orders. Orders must be placed by 4/25. https://napervillespiritwear.com/FIELD-DAY-2018_c802.htm
