Dear Brooks Families,
To say a mere THANK YOU, does not capture the gratitude our staff has to all the parents and families who made Teacher Appreciation Week so special. A SHOUT OUT goes to Mrs. Sonetz, Mrs. Reifsnyder and all the volunteers who made the week one to remember. We enjoyed breakfast items, flowers, smoothies, yoga, lunch and the much touted afternoon snack cart!!! Thank you for making us feel so special and appreciated!
Registration Packets Past Due
In order to plan staffing for the 2018-2019 school year, we need to know how many students are returning to Brooks. Returning students need to submit Online Registration before returning paperwork to the office. Also, Student ID numbers should be written on the Fee Statement. Student ID numbers can be found in HAC in the School Links tab under Additional Student Information. Families moving to Young should follow the Young walk in registration schedule as posted on their website http://young.ipsd.org/ If you have any questions, please call the Brooks office at 630-375-3200.
Remaining Items Pick Up
If your family is starting summer vacation early and your child leaves any items behind, please make arrangements to pick up these possessions no later than Friday, June 8 (ex. Yearbooks which are not distributed until the last week of school, final projects, school supplies, etc.) Any remaining items will be discarded.
Family Fun Fair Tickets and Volunteers
Friday, May 18th from 5pm-8pm is our Brooks Family Fun Fair! Our new Friday format allows for more Family Fun without the pressure of school the next day! No tests to study for! No school night bedtimes! Moms and Dads - take the night off from cooking dinner and let the FFFF crew do the work for you! We'll have options sure to please the whole family. There will be games, prizes and music! Bring out the family, have a blast and support our school! The early bird ticket sales form went home a couple of weeks ago! The classroom who has the most pre-ticket order sales will win a recognition treat! Teachings will focus on stretching, running form and etiquette (using the Kids Run the Nation curriculum). Each meeting will include 20-25 minutes of running.

One Week Building Closure in June
During the summer, the district will be working on our 4th phase of classroom air conditioning. This phase will require power to be shut off to our building during the week of June 18-22. Therefore, the office staff will be working out of Granger Middle School during that week. We encourage you to handle any school business outside of that week, but if you need to reach us, please email or come to Granger. More information to come.

Team IPEF Kids Marathon
Want a great way to encourage healthy choices with your children this summer? Register them to participate as a charity hero with Team IPEF in the Naperville Kids Marathon. Students ages 5-13 commit to running 25 miles (one mile at a time) between May 1 and October 19 and track their miles. On Saturday, October 20, they run the final 1.2 miles at Naperville North High School on a portion of the course used by Team IPEF runners in the Naperville Half Marathon the following day. All participants receive a Team IPEF shirt, race shirt, and finisher medal. Cost is $44 and includes race registration and a $26 tax deductible donation. Bookmobile will be back!
We are excited to announce the Aurora Public Library will return this summer, providing book check out for our students throughout the summer. Because of our wonderful turnout last summer, the Bookmobile has extended its time from 30 to 45 minutes! The Bookmobile will park in the front lot of Brooks School every Tuesday from 1:45-2:30 starting June 5-August 7. The Bookmobile will also offer their summer reading program. Stay tuned for further details, but mark your calendars!!
Chromebook Roll Out - coming in August!
We are proud and excited to announce the district’s continued roll out of one-to-one technology for our students in grades 2-5 for next school year. This year, our 5th grade teachers and students have piloted the use of this tool and have embedded it into our instruction in meaningful and exciting ways. Brooks is providing staff professional development this spring so our teachers/students are ready to hit the ground running in the fall. This initiative will also make our current laptops more available for our students in grades K-1, making it a WIN WIN for all! More information to come!
Kane County Cougar Game - Save the Date!
On Thursday, June 14th, the Brooks Chorus has been invited to sing the National Anthem at the Kane County Cougar Game! Students get to enjoy the game, run the bases, eat good food and enjoy fireworks! More information will be coming from PTA, but in the meantime, mark your calendar!!
