Retiring Teachers
We have four teachers who are retiring at the end of this school year. I would like to thank Mrs. Kohorn, Mrs. Kooi, Mrs. McCoy and Mrs. Mores for their amazing contributions to the Spring Brook students, staff and community. They will be missed!


Field Day Volunteers Needed
It's that time of year again--FIELD DAY is on Wednesday, May 30th (rain date Thursday, May 31st) and we need your help. If you are available for one or both days then please sign up accordingly.

PTA Volunteer Open Committee Chair Positions -- 2018-19 School Year
The PTA needs YOUR help! In order for us to continue providing lots of fun and educational opportunities for your children as well as family events, we MUST have parent volunteers willing to chair each of our planning committees. This year, we still have several committee chair positions open--please email Allison Fosdick, out-going PTA president, at springbrookpresidentpta@gmail.com, to learn more about these opportunities or to sign on as a committee chair!

Open committee chair positions for the 2018-2019 school year:
--Adult Social--at least 2 positions (plans, organizes, and executes our biggest fundraiser of the year. Last year the event was at Nevins Brewing Company and raised over $12,000. A large committee of volunteers helps with the planning, donation solicitation, and carrying out the actual event. Very important that we will fill these roles).
--Hospitality--2 positions (plans and organizes events and treat for teachers and staff throughout the year)
--Spring Fling Co-Chair (plans, organizes, and executes Spring Fling in March. We already have one chairperson who helped put on our fabulous Spring Fling this past year, but need a co-chair).
--Bingo For Books--2 positions (collects books and prizes and organizes and executes the Bingo for Books night held in February)
--Art Awareness Co-Chair--(works with the current co-chair to organize and oversee the art awareness volunteers and program)
--Ice Cream Social (organize and oversee ice cream social at the very beginning of the school year)
--Membership (send out, collect, and enter membership forms and information into database. Most of the work for this position is done at home).
--Charleston Wrap Fundraiser (organize, publicize, and arrange for delivery and order pick up for the Charleston Wrap fundraiser in the fall)
--PDAC Representative (District diversity advisory council rep--attends a few council meetings per year on behalf of our PTA and then reports back to our school's PTA)
--Photography Co-Chair (works with current co-chair to take kindergarten photos at the beginning of the year and other classroom photos throughout the year)
--Community Service (plans and organizes our school participation in the district coat drive in the fall and any other community food drives, etc)
--Sign Specialist (in charge of changing the announcements on the the marquis sign in front of the school as needed throughout the year)
--Health and Safety Red Ribbon Week co-chair (helps plan our school's Red Ribbon Week events)
You must be a member of the PTA in order to chair a committee. Please keep in mind that even if you aren't able to be a committee chair at this time, there are still plenty of ways to get involved, and volunteers are needed for every event. Separate emails will go out closer to each event asking for volunteer sign ups.

See The Able Not The Label!
To bring awareness and acceptance to autism and other disabilities, as a school we would like to celebrate our differences for the months of April and May.

What is See The Able Not The Label?
This campaign is about promoting inclusion and acceptance in the classroom and throughout the community. Acceptance is to challenge ignorance and fear about disabilities. It is to spread the word and knowledge about disabilities. We are lucky at Spring Brook to include students with a variety of needs in our classrooms.

Make a pledge!
We would like to give everyone in our school the opportunity to make a 'pledge' towards See The Able Not The Label. If you would like to make the pledge, cut out, decorate and write your name on the ribbon that the students received at school and donate $1. The ribbons will be posted on our lunchroom wall and all donations will be divided evenly to Easter Seals, Western Dupage Special Recreation Association and Gigi's Playhouse.


School Supply Kits
The Spring Brook PTA is pleased to offer school supply kits for the 2018-2019 school year. From the comfort of your home, you can purchase the required supplies with a click of a button. The kits will be delivered to your child's classroom before the first day of school. The benefits of ordering through the PTA include:

Box Tops
Please continue to send your collected box tops to school with your student. We will collect through most of May with the final prize drawing happening the week of May 21st. This is an easy way to bring funds to Spring Brook, and we thank you for your support!


Dough Raising
Save the Date Spring Brook Families! Aurelio's (SE corner of Rt. 59 and 83rd street) is hosting our last Dough Raising of the school year on Wednesday, May 23rd! Dine in, carryout or delivery orders count towards the fundraiser. Hope to see you there!
