One of our Brooks students, named Kelsey, has made us extremely proud...she approached Mr. Younce last spring with the idea that she wanted to lead a fundraiser. Her specific focus was going to be on buying new jumpropes for gym classes and mallets for use in music education. We talked about a few ideas, and before we knew it the school year was over.
But, Kelsey didn't forget about her idea.
She spent the summer thinking about what she could do to raise money. When school began this fall, she came up with an idea to sell "Spirit Shakers" (i.e. loud noisemakers) at Waubonsie Valley High School football games. After coordinating with the Principal and Athletic Director at WV, her sales began. She agreed to give a portion of her profits to WV Athletic Boosters and a portion to Brooks to contribute to gym and music.
Kelsey and her parents presented Brooks Elementary with a check for over $100.00, which will be matched with funds to purchase jumpropes and mallets. Her huge check is hanging in the front office window at this very moment...
Way to go, Kelsey! We're very proud of your hard work and thoughtfulness...you did a great job!
