Gombert PTA General Meeting Minutes
September 11, 2008
Meeting Called to Order: 7:05pm
Meeting Closed: 7:36pm
In attendance - Megan Narofsky, Donna Schaefer, Candace Lemmons, Christine Schmidt, Kristen Munsen, Amy Murphy, Maria Cerda, Jason Lucas, Angela Halliday, Dawn Whitson, Sophie Castro, Kari Connelly, Amy Brozak, Michelle Miklinski, Principal Ross, Christie Kruchten, Lisa Broccardo, Katie Ansted, Nicole Bergquist.
Minutes from the last meeting read -Approved by Donna Schaefer, 1st. Katie Ansted, 2nd
Treasurer Report: Will have treasurer report in two weeks.
Principal Report:
Assessments and Fall benchmarks are completed. Will be sent out to parents. Students who need interventions will be notified.
First week of October, have a Q&A session re: red/yellow assessments.
Schedule a “Family Reading Fun Night”. Possible pajama night, book swap included.
Mutual Ground (personal safety) Q&A Meeting will be scheduled in the evening due to parents work schedules.
Communications:
List-Serve to be updated on a weekly basis re: Gombert happenings.
Wanting to increase membership on List-serve to inform more parents of events. Will have computer registration in the LMC during parent/teacher conferences.
Phone Connect: To be used only for important information, ie. School closings due to weather.
Ability to accommodate Spanish speaking parents. Need list of parents for language accommodation.

Front Sign:
Student Store Opens September 22nd. Need donations, such as; dollar store toys, pencils, erasers, candy. Bring donations to Office.
President’s Report: Amy was present at the district meeting. ISAT’s are back, no big changes, looking good.
Matea Valley construction going well. The second floor cement is poured.
Matea plans to have all sports teams operable at the beginning of the school year.
Suggested that district Alderman’s are invited to be part of PTA . Letters of invitation will be sent by Michelle Miklinski to : Leroy Keith and Rich Melvine.
Committee Reports:
Membership at 338
We received an award for 100% staff membership.
Student Directory will be printed by October. Printed for PTA Members.
Communications: Gator Gazette due out October 1st. Submissions made for the Gazette must be in by the 15th of the previous month. Will be spearheaded by Julie Alexander.

Educational Enrichment:
Reflections This years theme: WOW!
Let your kids express themselves in creative ways; song, dance, poetry, etc.
Entry can advance to district, state, and nationals.
Entry is Free, and awards given.
Entry forms being sent home next week.
Rules and collection box for forms will be in office next week.
Awesome Art: For 1st and 3rd graders:
Present author, and read book
Super Science: For 2nd and 4th graders:
Help students with experiments on subjects they are working on.
No TV Week: April. Write essay, prizes given.
Family Services: Gombert apparel is selling well.
School Services: Positions filled.
Open Position
Social Events: Spring Social Coordinator Position is Vacant
Possible Sock hop theme. Coordinator can decide.
Culver’s Night -
Kids enjoy Teachers Helping out, serving, and cleaning up.
Next Culver’s Night; October.
Skate Night - September 23rd . Bring one can good per child, or one dollar, with max. of 5.00 per family.
Must bring permission form to skate night.
Sign up for 30minute increments to take donations, at door.
Need boxes, and someone to take donations to Hesed House, in Aurora.
Monster Bash: October 24th. Volunteers Needed.
Food: Nicole Bergquist
Games: Amy Murphy
Haunted House: Christie Kruchten
Ways and Means:
Fundraiser kickoff next Thursday. Lots of prizes, cool merchandise. School receives 50% of profit. Need to raise $9000.00 in profit. Two week window to sell. Sell one item and be included in assembly with BMX Stunt Bicyclist and Safety Speaker.
Drawings for prizes, such as; MP3 Players, Personal DVD player.
Holiday Shop: Position filled by Tracy Schwab.
Open Floor:
Possible use of School Website to post minutes, and events.
Has already been discussed at board meeting. Board will be working on this.
Address of website will be printed on event fliers.
Budget:
Two additions;
Bounce Check Fee (last year/this year)
LMC donations: Purchase book every year.
Motion to approve Budget: Christie Krutchen, 1st, Katie Ansted, 2nd.
