District 204 invites the community to the dedication and open house for Metea Valley High School on Sunday, October 4. There will be a formal school dedication ceremony from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, followed by an open house from 2:30 to 5:00 pm with an opportunity for community members to tour the school.
The formal presentation of the building will be made by Stephen Fort, Vice President and General Manager of Turner Construction Company, and Dennis Bane, Principal and Architect at DLR Group. The school's Vocal Jazz group and Symphonic Strings are scheduled to perform.
Construction of the 464,200 square foot school officially began on May 1, 2008. The school opened approximately 15 months later on August 20, 2009 with 1,250 freshman and sophomore students.
Construction was divided into two phases; Phase 1 consisted of a fully developed 84-acre site with approximately 280,000 square feet of finished space. Phase II, consisting of the auditorium, pool, music areas, and junior and senior classrooms, is scheduled for completion in January 2010.
Metea Valley High School is located at 1801 N. Eola Road, Aurora.
