Hello McCarty Families! Does your child love to write, paint, dance, sing, play an instrument, take pictures or use a video camera? If so, we've got a great opportunity for your child to participate in a wonderful program. McCarty will once again take part in the National PTA Reflections Program. The voluntary program provides opportunities for your children to express themselves creatively and recognizes their artistic endeavors. Some information about the Reflections Program was highlighted in the September Mustang Memo. This year's theme is: "Beauty is...". During the week of September 28th, a blue Reflections Project submission form will be sent home with each student; this needs to be filled out completely, signed by both student and child, and returned with your child's project. The due date is quickly approaching! All projects and forms need to be turned in to the McCarty front office by October 7th. Students may submit works in any (or all) of the six arts areas: Literature, Musical Composition, Photography, Visual Arts, Dance Choreography, and Film Production. The Illinois PTA does not limit the number of entries a student may submit. Select projects, in each category, will be chosen to move on the district, state or national review based on the interpretation of the theme, originality, creativity, and artistic merit. A wide variety of styles will be recognized. All students from McCarty who submit a project will receive special recognition at the end-of-year McCarty school assembly. There are some specific size/format requirements associated with project submissions; please visit McCarty's website (http://mccarty.ipsd.org) and review the "IPPC Reflections Program Rules in Detail" attachment under "Downloadable Documents" (or contact Kimberly Stotlar at kimberly@stotlar.com or 630.499.4086). If you need additional copies of the project submission form, that attachment will be available on the website as well (or contact Kimberly - see above).
