By the time you receive this email, you will have received an email and several voice messages from our superintendent regarding the potential for a bus driver strike.
As a result, the May Watts team has created a plan of action.
First, please know that if we are notified of a strike, the District will immediately notify you through an automated phone call and will provide ongoing updates through the automated system, list-serve, and district website.
In the event of strike the following plan of action will occur.
Arrival
1. The schools will remain open. If your child rides a bus, please begin discussing plans for alternate transportation. Consider carpooling.
2. Students who ride busses will be allowed to arrive to school as early as 8:15 AM if needed. Please help us. We will be in a minimal supervision mode. Delay your arrival as closely to 8:50 AM as possible.
3. The Kiss N Ride line will be extended to the circle drive. Parents will be allowed to enter the circle drive in a single file line from the south-please no left hand turns. The Kiss N Ride line on Whispering Hills will still be operational. There will be several adults on duty to direct traffic. Please be patient with us. Follow our direction.
4. In the case of a strike, all students will be directed to enter the school.
5. Walkers - please try to time your arrival at 8:50!
Departure
1. School for all walkers will be dismissed at the normal 3:35 time. We are hoping that the majority of our students will be off school property by 3:45.
2. Bus students will be dismissed at 3:45. In order to be safe and avoid traffic jams, cars should not arrive prior to 3:45 to pick up bus students. At 3:45, cars can begin entering the circle drive from the south - no left hand turns please. Cars should line up in single file line and extend to the south on Whispering Hills.
3. As you enter the circle drive, adults will greet you and ask you who you will be picking up. Please indicate clearly the childrens' names and the bus number that they ride. This information will conveyed by radio to the school. Your students will be dismissed out of Doors 2 and 3. Please exit as soon as possible.
4. A student arrival and departure information sheet is attached. Please fill it out tonight if possible and have your child turn it back to their teacher tomorrow morning.
5. The District is asking that all children be picked up by 4:20 PM.
Let's hope for the best! If the worst case scenario occurs, we have a plan! It will require patience. Please help us!
