To further enhance communication with parents, the Steck Health Office has started a new program which will inform parents when their child visits the Health Office, the symptoms their child displays, and what was done for them by our nurse or health assistant.
Currently each time a student visits the Health Office, his/her teacher sends a form with the student which states their symptoms/complaints. Starting on Monday, we will be sending these forms home daily with students, so parents are prepared to watch for any reoccurance of the symptoms.
Parents are contacted by the nurse/health assistant if a student sustains a head injury, has a fever or rash, or returns several times with the same symptoms. We will continue that policy.
Our goal is to improve the overall health of our students and to keep parents informed of any health issues.
We would like to remind parents of several points:
1. Parents must call the Attendance line (375-3535) before 10:00 AM
EACH DAY if their child will be absent. We ask that ALL symptoms which the child exhibits be reported.
2. If your child has a fever, they must be fever-free for 24 hours, without medication, before returning to school.
3. Students must remain at home 24 hours after vomiting.
4. Communicable diseases must be reported to the Health Office.
5. All rashes must be evaluated by a doctor.
6. Conjunctivitis (pink eye) must be evaluated by a doctor and antibiotics must be maintained for 24 hours before the student returns to school.
Thank you! -- from the Steck Health Office
